Welcome to the forums. Dungeons & Dragons is a very good Role-playing Game, especially if you like the Tolkien feel. I believe 5th edition is better for a new player, but 3.5 has so much lore and stuff that you can use. Nevertheless, don't hesitate to ask any help.
