As inviting as that sounds there are several reasons why someone wouldn't want to do his even if they have the money to buy the island. First, you want the location to be safe. Unless you have your own coast guard you're going to be susceptible to pirates. Greece does not seem very stable at the moment. The next is infrastructure - electricity and water are hard to come by if you don't get it from the mainland. Last, accessibility is important. What will it take to get groceries, to school if you have children and medical treatment? All these things have to be considered.
