Wisconsin teen Jerika Bolen, who highlighted right-to-die battle, has died
At age 14, Jerika Bolen of Appleton, Wisdom., decided to enter hospice care and cease treatment of her incurable disease: Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 2. The decision by someone so young raised questions about the right-to-die movement, and the age at which someone should be allowed to make such a decision. USA TODAY Network has been following Jerika's story - including one of her last wishes: a prom. People traveled from all over the country to attend the dance and say goodbye. She and her mother, Jen Bolen, said earlier this summer that Jerika would cease treatment, including her use of a ventilator that assisted her breathing for 12 hours a day. On Thursday, her mother said that Jerika died. Ref. USAToday.
