Feds not alerted as infections from medical scopes spread
The FDA was not promptly alerted as specialized medical scopes were linked to the spread of deadly super bugs in at least eight U.S. Hospitals, an ongoing USA TODAY investigation finds. In some cases, the disclosures never were filed. Scores of patients were infected, mostly with a bacteria known as CRE, which has mortality rates of 40% or more. Ref. USAToday
