Dolly's Destruction
Hurricane Dolly hit the Texas coast earlier today, bringing pounding rain and winds near 100 miles per hour to coastal towns. The storm system was downgraded from a category 2 to a category 1 upon landfall, but the threat of flooding in the Rio Grande River had local officials worried.

Goodbye, Dolly
Downgraded from a hurricane to a tropical storm last night, Dolly has now weakened to a tropical depression. But damage from the weather system may not be over. Flooding is feared in the Rio Grande region, which is home to some 1 million people. President Bush declared Texas a disaster area today, making it eligible for much-needed federal funding.
