RPG-7
The RPG-7 has really changed warfare. It is simple, mobile and can penetrate up to 11 inches of steel! The Afghans used these and similar against the Russians and now they are using them against troops there. What are your thoughts about the effect of the RPG-7 on warfare?

This little baby made sure to let monster vehicles like tanks and blackhawks know that there was always someone out there who could take them out with just a pull of the trigger. Those Afghanies did havoc on those Ruskies with this!

Comments: Actually, it would take a large number of RPG-7's to take out a tank, thanks to armor that is stronger than steel (1 foot thick depleted Uranium). After the poor soldier fires his weapon, the tank traces the smoke trail to his position, and blasts him into oblivion.
It didn't really change warfare, it was just another model of infantry antitank weapons modeled after German designs. It's essentially an upgraded panzerfaust.
The RPG-7's main positive traits are quick reloading and it's cheap/easy to produce. The downside is that it's inaccurate and cannot kill most Western tanks.
The RPG that really made the West take notice was the RPG-29, which is a bazooka on crack. It is also the reason that in the 2006 Invasion of Lebanon the lead Israeli tank only got about 10 feet across the boarder before getting blown up. A one shot frontal kill is something even a TOW missile would have trouble accomplishing.

The RPG-7 is a nice little toy if you want to play around. It is very good at taking out a small vehicle, a hummer, and you can move quickly. If you want good fire power and stop ability you need to upgrade.
I do not feel it changed much of anything in the war fare area. The main changes were the tank, the plane and other such bigger items.

Comments: Tank armor (in the USA) is 25 times as hard as steel. The M1 Abrams has a foot of this stuff in the front. Do the math.
