Izzat Ibrahim al-Douri
Izzat Ibrahim al-Douri, the highest-ranking member of Saddam Hussein's regime to evade capture, has been killed, a Shiite Iraqi militia commander said on Iraqi television.
Al-Douri, who the U.S. Military said helped finance a Sunni insurgency in Iraq after Hussein's regime fell, was the "King of clubs" In a deck of playing cards used by American troops following the U.S.-led 2003 invasion to identify the most-wanted regime officials. Ref. CNN
The end of Izzat Ibrahim Al-douri, the end of an era, but unfortunately not the end of the significant problems in Iraq that seem to be worst now than when Saddam was in power.
