Name: Michael

Comments: When Christians are celebrating Easter what are they really celebrating? I do not see as much emphasis on this as the birth of Jesus. Everyone knows what Christmas is about but Easter is a bit blurry.

Easter and Christians

Easter is supposed to commemorate Christ's resurrection. In contrast
Jesus told his disciples to memorialize, or remember, his death. (Luke 22:19, 20) Easter and its customs come from ancient false religions. Customs such as the use of eggs and rabbits. The early Christians did not celebrate Easter.

Why would anyone remember only his death and NOT his resurrection? Sorry, but I find it very odd. I think both occurrences should be remembered.

I agree both are highly significant, but Jesus sacrificial death is what takes away the sin of the world. And it's what he commanded to be observed.
(John 1:29; Luke 22:19, 20)

No problem with that David, however I think we should still commemorate both because as you said both are highly significant. Just because Jesus didn't mention to remember his resurrection doesn't mean we shouldn't do it.
