Maternal blood test may predict birth complications

A protein found in the blood of pregnant women could be used to develop tests to determine the health of their babies and aid decisions on early elective deliveries, according to an early study. Ref. Source 1p.

Any time there is a pregnancy there are risks associated with them. I think a test like this can be a good and a bad thing. I like the fact that it may be able to predict complications and the doctors can prepare for them to make sure the baby and the mother do well.
On the other hand I can see some mothers finding out they will have complications and may take steps to end the pregnancy. I am sure this will cause many people to react some favorable and some unfavorable. I think it will be another hot point best left alone.
