So you are driving when you get the siren in the background and pullover. Cop covers over to your window and says, "Do you know why you were pulled over?" What do you say, that you really don't know or that you probably were doing 'x'?

Never admit to anything. If they pull you over do these things as it will help. Roll down your window. Place both hands on the sterring wheel so they can be easily seen. Follow the police officers directions.
If they ask do you know why I pulled you over? Tell them you have no clue. Let them tell you. This way you are not admitting any wrong doing but allowing the officer to tell you.
If it is more than a simple traffic violation do not answer any other questions without a lawyer present. Granted you may be arrested but allow them and do not fight with them you will lose. It is easier for you if you cooperate and not answer any questions without a lawyer. IF it is a simple traffic violation then allow them to write you citation or give you a verbal warning. You will be surprised how many times you will get just a verbal warning if you cooperate with the officer.
I just stay silent and smile. If they ask I say "I wish I knew officer." I was very cooperative and still got a ticket. I guess it wasn't my day.

One key thing is race. Police react differently when they pull over someone that isn't white. If you guys are white then you will have it easier than if you're black or hispanic.

That can be true for some officers but for the majority of officers they could care less if you are red, black, green purple, white, blue, male or female. They are there to do a job and only that job. They want to go home after work same as everyone else. If you feel you are going to be treated because of you race then you may be a racist.
By this way of thinking that means white people better watch out if they are pulled over by a black officer or a Hispanic officer as they may get shot.
Yup, I agree with you KN. It's how you act, not what you look like most of the time. Now, are there racist cops? Yup. Just like there are racist accountants, postal workers, CEOs, bankers, and bricklayers. Oh, and it doesn't matter the color of your skin, your ethnicity, your religion, or the language you speak, there are racists everywhere.
