Closer to God

Closer to God
Mormon Doctrine / Teachings

"Prayer endows us with the power to draw near to our Eternal Father. How important it is, then, that one of our fundamental teachings to our children is how to pray."

L. Tom Perry, "Our Father Which Art in Heaven," Ensign, Nov. 1983, 12

God Closer

Such a simple question for something so important. I do believe Elder Perry was offering this as a rhetorical question. However, if we do not teach our children another thing we should teach them to pray. Prayer is the only conduit we have home to our Father in Heaven. What good are any of the other principles if we do not have prayer in our lives? It is imperative that we keep the lines of communication open between ourselves and Heaven. I can think of nothing more tragic, it would be as if we had been cut off and cast into the mists of darkness.
