AP - Humane society workers have found 117 cats, a raccoon and a rabbit in a north Omaha house. The discovery came Wednesday after Council Bluffs, Iowa, police caught the 54-year-old woman who lives at the house reportedly stealing cat food. Officials say she smelled like cat urine.

I think it is loneliness that turns into a mental issue. I have been in homes like this and all I can say is get a respirator as you are at a high risk of some bad diseases.
I can see having a few pets around you to keep as a companion or two. I believe Krakyn is right on it is a disease where they feel that they need to have all these pets around them so they do not feel lonely at all. I have 5 pets right now. That is enough for me.
