Why do we dream of a White Christmas?
Crosby's song tapped into a primal need for many living in the northern latitudes, where the notion of a white Christmas takes on mythic proportions. But why is snow important to a holiday celebrating the birth of a man in the arid climate of the Middle East? Ref. Source 9
Lucky you Kntoran! Back in Argentina, I lived in Buenos Aires where is extremely rare that snow and definitely NOT in December which is summer over there. My only white Christmases were when I lived in the US. For me, Christmas MUST have snow!
I have earned the nick name of polar bear due to the fact that I want a white Christmas, a white New Years, A white, MLKing day, A white Valentines day, A white St Patricks day, A White Easter, A White Halloween, a White Veterans day and a White Thanksgiving. SO far I only average about half of them.
Since I live in the northern US, I normally have a white Christmas, but I love to see it snow on Christmas eve and day because it freshens things up. To me snow seem to get a dull look after about a week or so. There is nothing like a fresh coating of snow to bring the shine back into the old coating.
