Austria's far-right presidential candidate Norbert Hofer has admitted defeat after exit polls showed a clear win for his rival.
Exit polls announced by state broadcaster ORF showed Alexander Van der Bellen with 53.6% of the vote. Official results are not expected until later Sunday or early Monday.
If Hofer had won, he would have become the first far-right head of state in Western Europe since the end of World War II. Ref. CNN.
