Workplace Horrors
The time-honored office tradition of whining at the water cooler just might get you fired, according to a newly compiled list of workplace horrors around the world. Two workers who exceeded the official limit of two moans per employee at one unnamed German firm were fired this year. Several colleagues quit before their moans could be counted.

The German business culture tends to emphasize control and discipline in the workplace more so than in North America. The policy of limiting complaining is part of a misguided attempt at controlling employee morale. If one person complains too much, it tends to make the other workers unhappy.

That's not fair! Managing envy in the workplace
In a recent study, researchers looked at envy in the workplace. The research found a strong link between an employee's feelings of envy after they perceive a supervisor has treated them worse relative to their co-workers and the length of time by which they process this information. Ref. Source 1e.
