Study raises concern of significant under-reporting of child abuse within US Army

Only 20 percent of medically diagnosed child abuse and neglect cases in US Army dependent children had a substantiated report with the Army's Family Advocacy Program, which investigates and treats child abuse. This rate is less than half of the rate of medically diagnosed child abuse cases substantiated by civilian Child Protective Services. Researchers say this contrast raises questions about the Army-reported rates of child abuse. Ref. Source 1v.

Just being an adult in a military family is hard enough, doing it as a child can mean you miss out on many things. Chdren need to be protected and cared for its not their fault they came into that situation.

Military Family Child Abuse History & Civil Business Politics

When I was a MP in the US Army I saw some cases of military families that had a abusive parent. I found it interesting back then the military would work to cover it up. I know of many Army members having a lot of extra duty and counseling on how to proper care for their family so that stats would stay low and the outside world would not come snope into the Army and any abuse that may leak out. I believe while the military wanted to put this to rest back then I also think they did not like to see it exposed. I can only think it has not gotten any better since then.
