A few minutes later, light shines out from the creature's eyelids as it peeks about. Cratol is momentarily blinded when it looks directly at the monk with eyes that glow brighter than any torch.
He can hear panicked croaking noises and wet flops. When his vision clears, he can see both of the creatures awkwardly hopping towards the water. They still have a ways to go if he wishes to intercept them.
They flop into the water, and begin swimming off considerably more gracefully than they had been moving on land. A few minutes later, the monk can see the lights from their eyes again, on the opposite side of the lake. Now that he knows what the lights are, it looks like they might be using the light to lure in fish and some of the larger insects the monk has seen down here.
Based on their apparent behavior, Cratol is reasonably certain these aren't intelligent creatures. Just low tier predatory animals, if ones with a rather unusual adaptation to the darkness down here. They would seem to be a threat to things that can fit within their mouths, but not much else.

Nyzahr responds to the ranger`s comments with a curt nod and the shadow of an a eery smile plays on her lips when Lia mentions the sandwich maneuver.
She bows a small curtsy towards Tallis and her group, then stands there hands on her hips and her head slightly bowed to the side, waiting to see what the halfling thinks of the Blaze´s new strategy.
She will send message towards Onwen:
"Care to join us, Oh Melancholic One?"
"Foolish to go wandering off alone" Onwen mutters at the mention of the missing monk "But is it wise to leave this place without everyone? We should be cautious about being rash. Time may be limited, but if we continue without a chance to rest we will not be at full strength when we face our enemy again. From what Tallis says, the enemy have set siege; they are not directly attacking right now and while the threat is impending, it is not imminent. We need to be at full strength. We need to rest and find Cratol. That is my assessment but if you all insist on abandoning one of our own and hoping that no harm comes to him, so be it… "
Lia frowns. " It is foolish to wander alone. We can't abandon him. I say from now on if someone chooses to just roam on their own without telling anyone they are on their own. We spend all our time tracking people down. We are a collection of people traveling the same way. Not a group."
She looks at Onwen. " How about the ones that need rest along with the bard go look for Cratol. Once he is found just rest here. The rest of us will handle what needs to be done out there. I would rather go with half of the party now and less resistance than go full strength and let the situation get much worse. What does everyone think?"
