Eventually you can hear the sound of something heavy being moved behind the door, and a bolt being pulled back. The door opens, and several frightened faces look out. "Tallis? It is you, thank the gods. Where do we go?"
Tallis says, "Roscoe, show them the way. People, please follow him, we need everyone out, swiftly."
People begin funneling out in a steady stream. It is a small door, so only a few can exit at a time. The townsfolk are pushing, but aren't quite as frantic as one might expect. There is some soothing music being played within that might have something to do with it. The halfling ranger waves at the first bunch to exit the temple, and starts slowly leading them back towards the tunnel.
One of them stops to answer Poljen, "Yes, there are only a few who need assistance. As to those without, I'm afraid I don't know, there are at least a few dozen, we just saw them coming and shut the doors."

Within, Fay seems to be having an impact on morale, people are beginning to replace fear with determination. Then there is some kind of disturbance at the rear of the temple, and people start moving in that direction.
Father Falconmoon, an elf old enough to actually look old, speaks up, "Our prayers have been answered, assistance has arrived, please exit the rear entrance, quietly and orderly. Please help us get the wounded out of here." He then turns and disappears downstairs.
Two people are being born out on litters, and several more need help to walk, finally, there is one man, apparently a prisoner, in shackles. Something seems to be wrong with his throat, as it is bandaged with some kind of wooden tube protruding from it. All told, there are perhaps a dozen individuals in need of assistance from others, though they seem well tended to at the moment.
There are well over a hundred people in here, so it is taking some time for them to funnel out. Meanwhile those at the front doors continue to pound away.
[In regards to Targul's idea, I would like to remind people that this particular structure is almost entirely made of stone. Burning it would not exactly be a simple matter.]
Poljen frowns and mutters, "Now would be a good tie for Sar'ai and her owl. But they are not here." He looks about, then grins. "Tallis, it will take a bit of time to get these people out and to safety. If you do not think it wise to sneak around to see the enemy's numbers, I can look through Bubbles' eyes, if you and he will allow it. Besides, if they break through the doors before everyone is out, we must attack. I say a few inside in case the enemy breaches the door, the rest ready to come around the outside."
Cahleth looks around as the evacuation begins. "Seeing that this place is made mostly of stone, perhaps we'd have better luck lighting the wooden furniture on fire. If they do break through the door, then they have the fire to deal with. I know this is not an original idea, but it worked quite well when the enemy was at the outer wall."
Poljen says, "They might smell the smoke before they get in. Again, what if they break through before everyone is out? If no one else will go scout, I will do so!" Poljen glances at his companions before setting off, fully aware others are better at being stealthy…
Fay hears what Falconmoon said. He understands there needs to be some sense of urgency in the people, without changing the calmness of the words of the music, Fay changes the tempo, making it a quicker pace. He hears the banging at the doors and realizes someone needs to protect the rear of these people. They are woefully unprepared to defend themselves. He stays at the back of the townsfolk and will act as a rearguard if the doors are breached and the enemy enters. He continues with his song as he grimly looks at the doors, "Trust in luck" he thinks to himself, "Pure, blind, dumb luck." He starts running through his repertoire of tricks, as he calls them, and readies one in particular.
Out of Character: Fay is at the rear of the throng of people but he is not directly at the doors in case they fall inward or collapse completely along with some wall. This distance may give him a chance to react.
Poljen beams a big smile. "Excellent! I will be inside, helping with the evac… escape." He moves past some people coming out and he grins at them. "Come, come! You're safe for now! Hurry!" Once past the chokepoint he moves towards the doors, standing ready to fight if the doors break or anyone gets inside. He readies the pike he had commandeered earlier, in case the doors break but do not fully open…
Out of Character: : If Daishani rules the pike is not there, sword is ready instead.
Targul listens to the conversation and Cahleth mentions that the building is mostly stone, his eyes widen as if he's seeing the building for the first time.
"Well, if we can't burn it, we can at least set up barriers by the door keeping them from being able to spread out and attack us from all directions."
Targul heads into the building. He will take what furniture he can find and use it to block both the right and left sides of the front door so that if/when they break through, no more than one or two will be able to fight Targul and Poljen at a time.
Seeing the Bard already in the building, he'll call to the man, "Can you quit playing around and give me a hand with this stuff?!?"
