Cratol and Onwen pass on, giving the bugbears a wide berth.
Further to the west, the pair nearly step out in front of a small patrol. A human, a white dragonborn, and a drake are walking down the street, checking the alleys and buildings. They'll be on your position shortly.

Up on the broken tower, it takes some coaxing, but the two pigeons seem willing to at least hear Poljen out.
Cratol and Onwen find the kill box site, several dozen enemy bodies, including a similar number of mounts, lie scattered about, pierced by arrows. They look to be relatively untouched, likely for fear of meeting the same fate.

On the tower, Poljen's pigeons are bobbing their heads excitedly, they seem to be getting the idea.
The pair head a little southeast to the temple. It appears quiet here too. The front door has been smashed in, and the timber the enemy used to break it down lies nearby, but there's no immediate evidence of their presence.

You don't hear anything within. A look inside shows the place has been pretty thoroughly worked over. The shrines to the various gods have been looted of finery, and someone appears to have desecrated the main altar with blood.
Looping back southwest, you come across a hub of activity. You cannot get close without risk of discovery, but there are two warehouses under very heavy guard. You can see a few frightened and confused people being led into one of them. Outside, in a row, are a number of heavily laden wagons. They look to contain valuable goods taken from the town.
It is getting towards evening now, and you had previously received word of some manner of plan to be initiated by your group at around this time.
