Fay sees Cratol coming up. He understands what Cratol is motioning about. He turns to Elyria and says, "We go back to the main body. It appears we are taking a different direction."
When they get to the main body Fay brings Elyria to Geoffroy and then goes to find Poljen. "What news? Why do we tack now to the southeast?"
Poljen says, "LIa sent word the main body of the enemy is breaking to the southeast, while others still try to lure us along the main road." He shrugs. "Maybe they know of the reinforcements and are going around them, or they are aware of our pursuit. Either way, they are going to also head down the road to find the reinforcements, them come looking for us. We head southeast. So, scout that direction, if you please."
As the group led by Poljen leaves the road, people stumble across tracks.
There is no sign of traffic for several hundred paces off of the road, but beyond that, You find a clear trail where a large group of people had walked through on foot. The trail goes a little east of southeast.
You would most likely have passed right by unknowing on the road, and the trail would likely have vanished in the next rain.
Lia's group presses on. They're still in sight when the last of Cyanwrath's main group changes direction, leaving the road behind. Within an hour or so, the only tracks the kobold rearguard will be erasing will be their own.
"Indeed I will. Shall I take Elyria with me again if Geoffroy allows? Do we have any with us that have skills tracking? I fear my small skills mayn't suffice."
Out of Character: Daishain, which skill do you need me to roll to track this force?
Lia shakes her head. " Im glad that you wanted to go ahead Tallis. Otherwise we would have went right past them. This was very cunning. Once we get past the kobold rear guard we should have a clear path to find those reinforcements. Poljen let me know he got the message. They are breaking to the southeast off the road and looking for the trail of the army. Now we just need to find some reinforcements. " Lia smiles.
Looking to Fay, the cleric will say will a nod, "Yes, you may have Elyria go with you again. She did come back safely." Geoffroy found himself more assured in letting her go, since she had not been harmed, but time will tell if this view changes.
On tracking he says, "I do not have skill in tracking, of with I offer my apologizes for such, though I am sure we can find the means." Geoffroy trusted in Lathander to provide for their needs and would not doubt in His light.
Following the tracks, Fay and the other advance scouts eventually spot the army, near the end of the day. They have regrouped at a new camp for the evening. If you have your bearings right, it is a few miles too far south to be seen from the main road. Other than the band of kobols tasked with erasing tracks, all of cyanwrath's men and the prisoners seem to be here.
Lia, Tallis, and Mari make good time. They're miles ahead of the kobolds by the time they need to stop, and that gap will only increase. No sign of the reinforcements yet, but that could be days of travel yet.
