No traps are set off on opening the desk. The aura, which appears to be of some manner of illusion magic, seems to emanate from a small and highly polished sphere of grey marble.
Out of Character: no, basic +X weapons do not require attunement.
Poljen says to Velon, "Leave the magic items for Onwen. He is able to tell what it is. We do not want to bring something along that the enemy can use to spy on us or track us. As for the mirror, I say leave it be. If it is magic talking, I think we would be seen as who we are. No, I fear that would bring the enemy back. They will wish to save what we have destroyed. Come, let us find any remaining foes to dispatch. Fay, do you think the drakes and lizards are still here?"
Fay thinks on it for a second and then responds to Poljen, "There is a fair chance they all departed with Cyanwrath. But 'tis worth a look. After reading what I read about the amount of time, energy, and considerable resources the enemy spent developing this place, methinks destroying it would deal them a grievous blow. Not to mention ending the evil purpose for which this place was made. Has't thou given any thought to this or a way to do so?" He looks at both Lia and Poljen with his question.
Fay then leads them to where the enemy kept the drakes and lizards.
A second or so after putting the orb back down Velon hears sound slowly returning to him.
In response to Poljen's decision, Onwen shrugs, "Fine, but I rather doubt that whomever is on the other end is in a position to do something about us."
Fay leads the others down the third passage from the entry, and takes a left at a split. Soon enough, the group is standing before a door. There are sounds of life beyond, but they're considerably muted compared to what Fay heard last time.

Velon, having no idea that Poljen spoke to him, experiments with the stone for another moment before following the group. He offers the bow to Lia, and stashes the other items for further inspection later. He'll likely ask Onwen for help there.
