Lia watches her companions investigating. Memories of the ambush in the hatchery keeps her alert. She stalks around the edge of the room totally ignoring the corpse pile. Looking around she totally focuses on any potential ambush. Her bow is drawn and arrow nocked.
There is no ledge above, or other signs of a stalker. There are at least two different kinds of bites on the bodies, neither of which seem to match the long and narrow mouth of the stalker encountered before.
As Lia talks around the room, she does not see signs of life in here. It looks like there is… Wait, did that stalagmite just twitch?
Out of Character: If you guys ever get to read the manual Cratol pocketed, it describes how the women are induced to carry multiple eggs, as many as three or four, more than they could reasonably handle.
Once stable pregnancy is confirmed, the second ritual siphons the mother's life force in order to basically skip initial development. A few minutes later, the eggs are cut out of the now dead mother, and the body dumped here. So yeah, the aftermath that oh so pleasant process is what you see before you.

Lia looks carefully for any sign of an enemy. As she completes her circuit she sees a twitch from the apparent stalagmite. She summons hunter's Mark from the bow and places it on the " stalagmite". Lia then draws back and lets the arrow fly at it. " Beware.... The stalagmite. It's alive. "
Specific Action: Hunters mark as bonus action and bow attack as her main action.
Poljen is surprised when Lia suddenly shoots a stalactite, but he trusts the cleric implicitly. He readies his sword and begins moving towards whatever it might be… stone or flesh…
Standard combat rolls, along with a generic save roll. Apply any necessary modifiers, please.
The arrow glances harmlessly off of the apparent rock mass. It shifts in response. A baleful yellow eye opens and glares at Lia, and a large roundish mouth with multiple rows of long clawlike teeth opens. The thing hisses at the cleric, and says in badly spoken Common with a deep voice that sounds like crunching gravel, "Why attack? We keep deal."
