Oswald and Jack proceed forward. The language being used includes some elements of undercommon, but not enough to pick up more than a few scattered words. When they get close enough to see the speakers, they spot several dozen heavily armed and armored dwarves sitting around three large fires. They're drinking and roasting a couple of creatures that defy description.
Their blue-grey skin color reveals them to be Duergar rather than one the relatively amiable varieties of dwarvenkind known on the surface. Death or enslavement are the most likely fates they'd have in store for intruders in their domain.
Oswald and Jack are in the midst of assessing the best way to slip by this band when the point is rendered moot. Oswald had pressed himself up against a crumbling stone pew, without warning, a part of it gives way under his weight. It crashes to the floor.
Immediately, the duergar are scrambling to their feet and grabbing weapons. They spot Oswald where he is sprawled out almost immediately.
Out of Character: The dice are being dramatic today, that nat 1 on the stealth roll demanded repercussions. The Duergar are almost a hundred feet away at present, you'll be able to stay ahead of them if you get up and run, but they'll be hot on your heels. Its time for initiatives.

Out of Character: : Sorry, I was out on a family outing. Hot out there!
In Character: : Poppo said about his vision, "I see okay but don't have the ability to see in the dark. Sorry."
When asked about a languages spell, he said, "Sorry again, I never quite got the hang of that spell with Master Edwin. He said I was close though. Maybe next time we are in town, I'll try to get a scroll that I can copy into my book."
Poppo looks a little crestfallen when he is unable to help with either request and blends back into his spot in the marching order. He made some mental notes about what to pick up the next time he was in town when he heard the crash of the stone and voices of the duergar.
He drew his rapier and brought a firebolt spell to his mind and prepared for the battle to come.
The string of curses coming out of Oswald's mouth is unfit for sensitive ears and is definitely something no cleric should ever utter. He quickly gets to his feet, grabs Jharen by the arm and starts booking it for the group. He tries to think of a plan, while calling out towards the group; "Duergar, heading this way. Get ready."
Amber Jack, Rogue Master and Spy Extraordinaire, gets ready to lift the bottom of his amber coat and to take off at full speed away from the rousing Duergar.
He nevertheless takes a second to grab a sealed clay jug dangling from the side of his pack and lobs it towards the running mob of grey dwarves. It crashes on the floor of the underground cathedral with a wooshing sound, engulfing the surrounding area in greenish, crackling flames.
As he gets closer to the group he shouts: " Duergar Squadron ! Way too many of them ! RUN ! "
Catching up with Poppo and Geoffroy he stops just long enough to point towards the Duergar and to pant out:
" Use your powers and blast anything that crumbles down on them, we have to slow them down… Let's go, people… ! They have small legs but I won't stick around to time them ! "
His ring cackles gleefully as Jack takes off at full run again, trying to keep the group in some sort of order.
Out of Character:
Uses Alchemist Fire to slow down the vanguard of their pursuers (Will do it as one action while running, probably with disadvantage but the point is having the thing explode in the pursuers' way and surprise them, never mind if it does actual damage…)
