Daishain's 5e D&D RPG Main Thread - Page 442

Zarra keeps trying to shoot her pursuers, and manages to bring one down. But then they're on her, and two of those with nets go bounding by, wrapping her in its weighted strands. The second net is coming, and the others pull out clubs. It looks like they want to take you alive.

[restrained condition, speed is zero, disadvantage on attacks and Dexterity saves, attacks on you have advantage. Getting free will take an athletics check or attacking the net with a slashing weapon.]

Spurred on by the recent encounter, the group keeps moving, Soon enough, the highway reaches a narrow set of stairs going up. It is a long climb, but soon enough it levels off at a large double door, stone reinforced with thick steel and magic.

There are no obvious handholds, instead two pedestals stand to either side. Silas removes two gloves from his belt and puts one on, offering the other to the group.

"This entrance has remained intact and forgotten through the ages thanks to these wards. Few who discovered its existence were ever able to open it, and plenty of other ways in and out of the Undermountain exist in these latter years of ruin, so it remained left alone. Normally, only two dwarfs bearing the blood of Clan Melairkyn can open this door. A real problem since the clan no longer exists. But these gloves should deal with that. If someone could put the other one on, and place their hand on that pedestal, we can proceed."

Fay looks at Jacks knee and smiles, "Aye, I can send some healing your way but mayhaps Lia's healing is more potent. If ye just want a quick pick me up then give the word and I shall sing you a song of binding more beautiful than Poljen's bulging biceps."

Lia observes Oswald as he interacts with Cratol. In answer to his question she responds thoughtfully. " Outward beauty is the expression of what is inside. If someone is full of darkness then they will have a foul appearance. There are a few exceptions to that but it is a general rule. "

" I must help set the beauty standard for Sune. If I am unable to keep scarring from appearing somewhere that is visible to others then I am not worthy to represent Sune. The same goes with ageing. Eventually when my face wrinkles and I am unable to hide it with magic or makeup then I will be unworthy. Fortunately with the long life span of my people that won't be an issue for many years. Our job is to help bring and keep beauty and love in the world. When we are no longer able to do that it is time to step down. It is the way of Sune, may she be forever blessed. " Lia smiles at him and waits for his response.

Out of Character: : I had planned to play Lia as a more hedonistic character that isn't to be taken too seriously. With the starting group dynamics I felt that she needed to be more serious to balance out the group. Now that is her character pretty much as I have grown accustomed to playing her in that way.

Jack grins back at the half-elven bard.

"A song of binding, you say ? As long as it gets me back on my feet, I'll even give you a two-step, Master Bard ! Let's hear it… ", then calling out towards the others: "Give us a minute before we see whatever's behind that big dwarven door ahead ! Fay's got a song he wants to sing us about Poljen's beautiful bulging biceps. Nothing weird at all, I swear. Only feats of arms and such… Pol, you'll want to hear this."

He smirks back at his companion: "I'm ready, Fee-Fi-Fay: hit me with that music thing ! Make it groovy !"

Oswald smiles; "So, we are sorta on the same mission. Lathander seeks the path of self improvement, and as you said; 'Outward beauty is the expression of what is inside.' So we are both seeking to bring beauty to this world."

He looks at the wall before them and shakes his head. "Now that is an impressive door." He sees Silas waiting for someone to aid with the door. "Um… I'll leave that task to someone stronger."

He turns back to Lia. "May I ask, what brought you to Sune?" He smiles again and says; "You of course may ask any questions you may have as well."

Cratol steps over to take the glove but Velon beats him to it so he simply stands at the doorway waiting for something to happen.

Velon will approach and put on the glove. He follows Silas's lead and places a hand on the pedestal. "What could go wrong?"

Poppo finishes hacking a piece of the worm off and wraps it in some oiled cloth before stuffing it into his pack. "Maybe it'll soften up if it is stewed," he thought before hustling to catch up with the others.

As the group made their way up the series of stairs, Poppo's face looked a little flushed, "Damned stairs. Should be an elevator or something in this place. Didn't dwarves build it? Would have thought they were better engineers than this."

Once the group was at the door, Poppo stood to wait for the magic gloves to do their work. He stepped over to Mari while they waited and said, "Are you feeling better? That worm had some nasty teeth. I'm glad that you are okay. If something happened to you, who would be in charge of stabbing me if I misbehaved?" he said with a wink and a smile.
