Snapjaw sticks his head to one of the arrow slits in here, letting out a strange deep throated call. It is answered, and dozens of lizardfolk warriors, who had apparently been waiting at the ready, come pouring out of the buildings below, charging for the ramp.
Velon deftly kicks out the brake for the drawbridge, letting its wheel spin out as the large wooden structure rapidly lowers. He and Poljen set to turning the other wheel together, raising the portcullis out of the way of the incoming reinforcements.
Snapjaw nods in satisfaction. "We go hunt walls, may Essylliss bless." He and the other lizardfolk turn and head back east. Apparently making for the stairs in that direction.
Someone starts banging on the gatehouse door the group did not go through, demanding to know what is going on.

Jack moves to open the door, only to be shoved aside as someone within shoves it open and hurries through. An elf in ornate robes goes bustling across the wall, and disappears down the northeastern stairs.
The pair can see archers moving into position along the western wall, a number of them firing down at something, probably your scaly allies.
Determined to show once more how crafty he is, Poljen once again lifts a dead guard up by the barred door on the northern wall of the guardhouse. He says, "Come see for yourselves!" and kicks the bar up so the door can be opened.
Out of Character: : After I see the roll I will decide if I need to use the Guidance…
Velon kicks any brake or locking mechanism that holds the portcullis up into place and watches Poljen open the next door. He moves over to that area and readies a weapon strike against any enemy that enters. He looks to Lia and asks "Any reason we need to leave someone to guard this gatehouse?" "Should we help clear out cultists along the walls on our way and go find Fay and Jack?"
Lia smiles as the drawbridge falls." Help is coming." Seeing what Poljen is attempting she calls upon Sune again to bless him. She looks to Velon." Once the lizardfolk are inside the fortress I don't see a reason to leave a guard here. I think that we should strike out along the walls and clear a path. We need to help clean this place out and make Fay and Jack's job easier. It's time for you and Poljen to do what you do best."
Mari takes out a vial of poison and considers it for a moment. She shakes her head and puts it back. The young blond holds both swords at the ready.

Jack smiles as he watches the receding robes of the elven mage. "Hopefully this one won't be too much to handle. But that's out of our hands for now…". He whispers as he turns towards Fay: "Okay, Bard, I think this time the game in on. Let's see what's inside this copper egg box, then… but remain watchful, there may be more hocus-pocus going on inside! "
With these parting words, the rogue drops the Silence yet again and makes a cautious inspection of the insides of the strange golden construction.
Out of Character: after seeing Fay's rolls, I don't reckon Jack needs to back him up: the bard's obviously a quick learner. Edited: AshDrunbar on 28th Sep, 2017 - 2:53pm
Poppo releases the Flamebolt spell he had readied from his mind as the guards are quickly dispatched by the others. Hearing the commotion on the walls, the halfling moves over to look. "We could shoot a couple of lightning bolts along the walls and clear out those archers," he says to Lia waiting for orders.
Fay quickly ascertains that there is no one else within the odd structure, so he and Jack slip inside while the guards are focused on other things.
This building houses a fascinatingly complex structure, gears and wheels that are obviously intended to move hold an array of oddly shaped glass pieces. Nearly every square inch of the machine is covered in arcane runes. The largest of the lenses focuses a shaft of light from the opening in the top of the structure, which is further altered by the other pieces. A nearby box houses a number of control levers, but they are unlabeled.
The end result of all this seems to be at the center of the room, where a moving image is displayed on a white stone plinth. From above, you can see a solid metal tower, with an area of green vegetation around it, surrounded by the swamplands you are all to familiar with from your trek here.
Near the plinth is a writing stand with a tome on it, and in in one corner of the room is a recently used bed.
