During the looting process Velon voiced several opinions about dividing things up, hoping all can benefit. He suggests some weapons and armor go to Snapjaw so they can defend this place with magic weapons, avoiding such issues as they had with the stone golem. This will also allow the group to keep what they really want.
The paladin is most impressed with the ring and is appreciative that the group will let him have it, even if it means giving up his other ring.
"Cratol, I was thinking of you. Holding too many items of a certain magical ilk wears on my vitality, and I think you can make better use of this ring. Do not be alarmed when you wear it, but when danger strikes you may feel time slow down for just a second. It has given me the opportunity to assess what is happening and start to take action more quickly than I could otherwise. One of your talents and speed should be able to make good use of it. One stipulation though, my friend. If we're ever drunk and get in a scuffle you have to take it off first. I fear with your speed you'd strike me seventeen times before I could even see it coming!" The red bearded one gives a small smile at his young friend, although is not nearly as loud and jovial as he would be if Oswald were still with them and the mission a success.
"Poppo, I saw you eyeing that bag, as was I. You have more need of it with all of those books and cooking supplies. You should take it. Perhaps you'd let me store some gold in there if I can no longer carry all of our treasures, eh?! I trust ya. You're a good man Poppo. Great work here, too, by the way." Velon looks around at the creative repairs to the rune circle.
The portal flares to life once more as spell energy is added. The aperture appears to be a bit erratic and unstable. A quick examination proves it to be a harmless visual effect, but also a sign that the portal may not stay open very long.
The group rushes through one by one, spreading out to engage trouble. The transit is… uncomfortable, and you feel as if someone had stirred your innards by the time you arrive on the other side. Unlike the muggy air of the swamplands you just left, the air here is crisp, clear, and very, very cold. Your feet crunch down into a thin layer of snow, and more can be seen around you, especially on the towering mountain peaks nearby. To the north and well below you are wide fields of green grass, and you think you can see a city of some sort on the horizon. To the west is what looks to be a magnificent sunset developing.
You will have to admire the view later however, as a massive four armed troll roars at you from nearby, and begins charging along with a half dozen armed thugs.
Out of Character: Everyone needs to make a Constitution save vs intense motion sickness.
Poljen is first out, and keeps moving, so the others can follow him. Once they are all through, he feels the ground shaking and quickly sees the reason. Trolls, along with some humans, charging at them. He shrugs his shoulders and whistles the signal sending his eagle up and away from the scrum. Then he grins and charge sstraight at the closest troll…
Out of Character: : Bonus to Rage, then normal attacks on the first troll he can reach.
Lia steps out cautiously. The cold air stings after the oppressive jungle humidity. Seeing the troll and humans charging at them she pauses for a moment. A smile appears on her face. She begins calling upon Sune and gesturing at the great troll. Powerful energy surrounds the troll.
Mari walks out on edge not knowing what could happen. She moves to engage the same target that Cratol does.
Specific Action: Mari will maneuver to get advatadge and sneak attack with an ally. Lia cast banishment on the troll. The charisma save DC will be 14 for the troll.
Poppo is glad that his oatmeal glue held long enough for the portal to activate and is about to discuss other important recipes he could use in the future when he sees the trolls and its goon back-up.
Hoping the others will address the troll, Poppo focuses on the armed thugs and drops a fireball in their midst.
