Lia's arrow takes the mage in the thigh. He attempts to hobble on, only for Sar'ai to catch him in a spray of noxious gas. He's still trying to clear his lungs when Onwen's force missiles burn into his torso. The man collapses.
Inside the shop, Geoffroy is busy trying something he once heard about and only half remembered. After ripping out a part of the shop's loom, He carefully cuts into the base of the dying fighter's throat, holding the man still as he works. Wiping blood away from the incision, he finds the windpipe and makes another cut through its ribbed surface. It is difficult to slide the wooden tube through the hole, but he manages. The flesh closes around the foreign object, and air passes through the hole as the man breathes once, then twice through the tube with a very confused expression on his face.
It will be impossible for the man to actually talk while in this condition, even were he inclined to do so. But he will live for now, and the damage to his larynx can be repaired.
[The mage is dying, but Lia can make it in time to save him if she is so inclined. Geoffroy's work takes several minutes, people entering the shop after the mage goes down will be able to witness most of it.]

When Cratol sees that the mage has been caught he goes back to where the battle first started. He will pick up the weapons left before going back into the building. When he sees the cleric he just shakes his head. He searches the room for any clues that can help them with what may be coming.
Lia nods in satisfaction as the arrow hits home. " Thank you my Lady Sune. " She sees the others take the man down as she runs after him. Lia runs up and sees Sar'ai and Onwen standing by him. " Sar'ai, what happened? " She kneels down and checks on the mage and notices that he is about to die. " Do we need him alive Sar'ai? I can bring him back if we can use him. He will die very soon if I don't do something." She looks to Sar'ai for her response.
Cratol finds his gear easily enough, it had been tossed into a corner along with what had been taken from Sar'ai.
In the front room, the monk finds signs that there are probably more men in the town that the group missed. The room looks very… lived in, and five bedrolls are spread out on the floor. Four rucksacks are placed up against the wall, they look to each contain personal belongings.
The most striking thing in the building aside from the rune circles and their contents is an altar. It is a slightly larger version of the one found in Linn's tent back in the bandit camp. It bears the same clawed star symbol of Tiamat.
Geoffroy sees the confusion on the man's face and shakes his head, before saying softly, "You have a lot to explain, and questions that will need to be to answers. I have given you back thy life, so please do not try to excape" The cleric might of said more, but sees a certain monk enter.
Leaving the man for now after making sure the rope was secure, he walks over to Cratol and says, "Once we can get him talking, then punishment can be given. My apologizes for not letting him die." Geoffroy did consider the room found, and the alter there.
"Tiamat, what interest does her followers have here? That is one of many questions," the Morninglord offers at the sight, as well a look of concern and worry at there being others saying, "We need to find out who else is involved." Hopefully, they could get the man healed up enough to speak with him and learn more of the situation.

Sar'ai looks at the dying mage then up to Lia, "One moment."
The half-drow bends down and as a fellow spell user, begins to scour the mans body for a wand, a spell focus or component pouch, and as a rogue uses her experience pick pocketing to check for seemingly hidden pockets and false trimming and the such. Once she has found what she is looking for she looks to the mage, "Always check for a focus… " then grinning turns back to Lia, "Yes. Linn's death became an apparent loss of seemingly vital information. However," Sar'ai smiles at the cleric, "Don't try 'too' hard."
Out of Character: Elanna would still be searching the alley for her masters crossbow, assuming the thugs were in too much a hurry search too hard for it. If found, she would scoop it up in her talons and fly it to Sar'ai. If she doesn't seem to spot it, she will really to Sar'ai that it is not in the alley, at which point the half-drow would assume that the men did in fact find it and take it inside the building along with her daggers.
I'm going to roll a Sleight of hand check with advantage as the man is not in a position she needs to be careful, but more as a way of Sar'ai "Knowing" where to check a person for valuables first (Feel free to disregard) Then if she finds something that would appear to be a focus or wand, I'll roll an Arcana check to help quickly sort what may be used for spell casting, and what may be just mundane items on the mans body.
(These rolls are really just for implementing the character's skills, and also I like rolling dice! (Laugh)).
Sar'ai pretty quickly divests the mage of notable belongings:
-a thick and short wand he'd used as a spell focus
-a pouch containing 17 GP
-a magically produced mini portrait of a young human woman with red hair.
-A finely crafted compass with a silver casing
-A wizard's spellbook with the following spells inscribed within, 1st level: Shield, Magic Missile, Unseen Servant, Detect Magic, Alarm, False Life, Identify; 2nd level: Hold Person, Invisibility, Suggestion; 3rd level: Stinking Cloud, Fear.
Elanna does not find Sar'ai's hand crossbow outside the building. Cratol spotted it inside, along with the rest of her gear.

Lia shakes her head as she watches the woman search the mage. " Do I even want to know what happened here? Your hair is a mess. Wherever you go trouble follows Sar'ai. " Lia smiles as she says this. " Did this man have anything to do with that signal that was launched into the skies moments ago ?" She waits until Sar'ai nods then holds her medallion away from her chest and calls out to Sune for healing of the mage. She points her hand at him and feels healing warmth leave her body.
Specific Action: She casts Healing word.
Out of Character: : We want to heal him. Just not "Too " much.
