Why not put it on a wall right by the containment field so when it comes through it goes right into the containment area and then we shut it inside?

Out of Character: . Is that in character or out? Either way, semantics. We are putting it in the same room for the exact purpose you described, unless you meant to say put it “in” the tank. Since the instructions aren’t clear we’re being cautious so something else violent doesn’t destroy the tank. Perhaps a friend bringing our elemental from another plane doesn’t want to be stuck in the tank with it, as well. Who’s knows?

The loop is placed on the wall of the pilot room and activated. There's a humming sound, and then the group is peering into a brightly lit room somewhere else.

Other loops like the one before you are hung on the walls, and a kobold with golden scales sits writing something at a desk nearby. Zarra recognizes her as the one who had tended to her wounds in the Mere.

She looks up at the sound and smiles, "Ah, there we are. I was beginning to wonder if something was wrong. Irdeith sends his regards. I am his mate Chasorth."

"This device is a two way fixed portal. But the amount of matter it can transfer at any one time is extremely limited. I find it quite useful for communication nonetheless. Let me go ahead and give you what you need."

Standing, Chasorth rummages around until she finds a pair of glowing crystals. Passing them through the portal, she'll drop them in the hands of whoever steps up to take them. "Either of the elementals within those should suit your needs. The hunter who was sent found more than was needed. Keep it as a backup, or perhaps some other use could be found."

Out of Character: The portal works once per day. After the stud on either hoop is depressed, the link will remain open until 10 minutes have passed, or 20 pounds of matter have gone through, whichever will occur first. Needless to say, this makes the passage of living creatures beyond this weight limit extremely ill advised.

Chasorth shakes her head, "The crystals contain them, nothing more. Chip or crack the crystal, and within a minute it will be released. I highly suggest that it be placed within this chamber intended to contain the spirit before it finishes breaking free."
