Cratol arrives back at the skycastle and enters. He will head up to is room where he will rest for the rest of the day until the time the two ballista are due to be arriving. He will head down and see to their delivery and placement. After which he will go through his exercises and fighting routines to keep himself limber and prepared for battle.
Poljen smiles and says, "That sounds more than fair. I have gold enough for that. I would like to leave in the morning. I will be here right after breakfast with the money to meet the guide and depart. It has been a pleasure doing business with you!"
Poljen will return down the stairs to find the Rite of Inebriation to relax and wait for the others to arrive.
Lia proves to be an excellent bargainer, moving adeptly through the stores in the city. The dwarven merchants are adept at this, but appreciate haggling from someone who has an eye for quality. She manages to strike several good bargains.
Lawrance finds a buyer for the spellbook, the spells are not uncommon enough to be of much interest on their own, but there is a scholar interested in the spell grammar and writing styles of other cultures.
Soon enough everyone save Cratol has gathered in the tavern. Nikolaos arrives in time to coordinate his music with the actor troupe. Apparently their play is a reenactment of a famous raid into the underdark, one of the few attempts to free illithid slaves that had real success.
Not long after, several of the rangers you met outside show up, ready to hear your tales. As promised, they buy the first round.
Cratol awaits at the castle for the first two ballistas, they arrive soon enough, and the team of engineers act to secure the bases to the stonework, then reassemble the machines piece by piece. The whole process takes perhaps an hour.
Out of Character: To keep things simple for the bargaining, knock 15% off the price for transactions Lia helped with. The sale of the spellbook earned 550 gp.
Poljen looks first at Nikolaos, then over to Lia and Mari. "This will be good! You have yet to the full tale of what we went through after we went separate ways." He sits back, pitcher of ale in his hand and the tale-telling begins.
Lia and Mari take seats at the table with the others. Mari begins with a tankard of ale while Lia sips on some red wine. Lia studies Nikolaos curiously wondering how well he will do.
"Poljen, I cannot wait to hear of the further exploits of the Silver Blaze. If I didn't know you then I wouldn't believe the fantastical tales about dragons, vampires and giants. My time away wasn't quite as exciting. I'm glad to be back to keep you and the foolhardy monk patched up amongst others." She smiles and takes a sip of wine. A pointed ear is barely visible through her raven hair.
Poppo enjoys travelling in the city and takes in all the sights and sounds of the marketplace shops they visit. He isn't looking for anything in particular for himself but agrees to share the cost of the keying system for Lawrance's secret chest. Once the group arrives at the tavern, Poppo really relaxes and orders a frosty pint of ale. He takes a big swig and then settles in to listen to the music and hear the others tell their tale. He also looks to order a meal; something interesting from the local fare.
Happy but broke again, Lawrance pockets the sale money from the book into his pouch of holding for later deposit into the lab vault. He then joins the group at the Rite, relaxing with a drink that he casually flavour enhances with a cantrip.
"Well, that was fun to be back in a civilized area again! I missed the markets and bustle of a living town. Just wish I had more money to spend here."
