In preparation, Lawrance begins ritually casting a spell, summoning a minor spirit to clear the area and define the large circle of combat. He then magically clears the area of larger stones or other impediments. With a final few gestures, a line of sparkling motes dance along the outer edges of the combat ring as he walks the perimeter, as well as three equidistant runes that glow at the edges of the circle. "There! You've got your blood-circle. Anyone leaving it will be subject to ridicule and possible disfigurement, so be warned! May your play be fair, fine and non-permanent."
Making good use of his Robe, he keeps eyes out for any who may have followed - either visible, invisible, ethereal or other - as well as on the battle about to begin.

"I'll team up with Lia if you all don't mind. I would like to avoid her wrath if possible. Divine magic makes me a little uneasy," Perry shudders at the thought.
Perry will try to stand as far as he possibly can away from Velon and Poljen in the arena. By now, he is wearing his breastplate properly, has a shield on his back, and a fine rapier at his side. He readies his mandolin.
"No flying allowed correct? Fine by me! Shall we begin?" Perry smiles wickedly.
Out of Character: I will go ahead and do my initiative roll now, adding a +1 via Jack of All Trades. Also, I'm going to attempt to be standing at least 100 feet away if possible, (Laugh). I want to try and give myself a fighting chance here.
Velon looks a bit surprised at the realization that he and Poljen would have to strike Lia down to properly win this duel, but tries to hide it. He gives Poljen a glance and then looks at Lia, shaking his head at the way this has come together.
He announces "No flying, and if you're knocked out you stay down." "Healing people back repeatedly will only risk serious harm. Take all of the space you need to start."
He takes his shield off of his back and draws his war hammer. He walks past Poljen as he heads for the far side of this newly cleared arena, saying in a quiet voice "How badly do you want to win this, my friend?" "I have not the heart to strike Lia, and am not sure it is appropriate to call upon great sums of power from Bahamut for such games, although a few minor tricks may not hurt." He pauses for a moment and adds "I'd be willing to wrestle her to the ground, however!" and gives him a grin. "I will at least try to test this 'Perry' a bit, if nothing else."
Out of Character: Thinking he might not use Channel Divinity unless something unexpected happens, but a little of the ol' Smiting or Healing may be ok. Rolling initiative as well.

Lia is now clad in her armor and has her magic bow in her hands. She retreats back with Perry and stands next to him. LIa whispers to him as they confer.
Out of Character: : She rolled for initiative as well.

As Lia and Perry move to the far side of the impromptu arena, Poljen turns to Velon and speaks softly. "We know magic is my weak point. Anything you can do to boost me would be most appreciated." He allows Velon to cast any spells he wishes, then turns to face Lia and Perry.
Initiative time!
"Ah yes, right, will do," replies Velon to Poljen's reminder about buffs. "I will start with a Blessing to help shield our minds from his bardic trickery, and will keep Haste in mind for both of us. Haste tends to be debilitating when broken, though, so I want to see how easily I can keep my concentration first."
He readies Bless on the two of them for just before the battle starts.
Out of Character: Haste could leave both men incapacitated for a turn if Lia or Perry break Velon's concentration, so it is VERY risky. He'll choose to play it safe to start.
Poljen nods to Velon as the man casts his divine magic, then adds, "Of course I wish to win. But more than that I want to see what this Perry can do. He says he is best-suited to support, and you will not strike Lia. Then I shall attack her when I am able, and we will see how he reacts. Both birds with one stone, eh? Ha!" He turns and begins his lumbering trot, with which his long legs seem to cover ground faster than one of such size should.
Out of Character: : Movement of 40 feet, action will be another 40 feet of movement… and Bonus to Rage, of course.
