Lia frowns as he walks away." I did lose sight of the goal of the duel. When he hit me I grew quite competitive and didn't want to lose. In my eyes he passed the test. He had other grand surprises planned I'm sure "
She looks at the bystanders and to Velon and Perry. ." I think we could use this as training from time to time. It would be best for it to involve only skilled melee combatants. Bringing magic into it too easily unbalances things one way or the other."
Out of Character: : I'm almost disappointed it ended like that. Perry still had his biggest surprise up his sleeve *wink*.
The castle staff who had come out to watch the mock fight are a little disappointed it ended so soon, but they filter on back in to their duties.
At about this time, those on the walls spot a group approaching from Citadel Adbar. As they get closer, it becomes apparent it is a group of dwarves with the third ballista Cratol ordered.
"Yes, skilled melee combatants only!" Perry pulls out his rapier, "I'm actually very well-trained in the art of fencing!" He pokes at the air a couple times. Perry laughs, "Of course I still had one or two tricks up my sleeve! I never place all of my cards on the table immediately! It's much more fun when it's a surprise!"
Perry seems really happy with this outcome. He didn't have to show much of his other side.
Out of Character: (Laugh) Kyrr, they didn't even get to see my second form, let alone my final one!
Velon listens to Poljen and watches him walk off. A bit unsatisfied himself, he speaks once again. "Yes, this was a test as requested by Poljen, and wasn't really a true duel, but to me does show you could be useful in battle. What would you do against a dragon, though? Such a beast's magic would surely protect it from such tricks, and that is likely the type of enemy we face."
"Anyhow, you have proved you have some fighting spirit, but the real question is your motives and trustworthiness. What do the rest of you think about Perry's request to join up with us? Zarra? You have a good instinct for such things. What do you have to say about this stranger?"
Out of Character: I don't think Velon has seen Eldritch Blast or other damaging abilities yet, so he raises the point.
"I've already stated my stance on this as reserved until we actually see conflict with a true enemy, so that's still where I stay. Your little bit of playtime didn't change my opinion." Says Lawrance, still mildly amused at the combat's results.
"Hmm, hmm, yes, yes, of course, a dragon," Perry ruffles his non-existent beard.
"Well, to be honest, I've never met any manner of creature that couldn't be fooled in one way or another!" Perry laughs. "And let me tell you, I have seen my fair share of nasty creatures in the Feywild. Still, I can do a little bit of everything. I can help people dance majestically across the battlefield, I can do a little bit of healing to pick you up when you're down, and I'm really, really good at playing pranks! I really can use this rapier you know!"

"Ha, ok ok Perry, sounds good. I'm surprised Poljen didn't make you prove that last point."
"Yes we know a duel doesn't prove trustworthiness, that was simply Poljen's request, and good fun! The question at hand is whether or not to allow Perry to join our party at this very moment. We will have to quickly bring him up to speed on what is going on, as we should probably head out and stir up some trouble starting tomorrow."

While Velon paces a little and waits for responses from Zarra and others, he finds himself next to Lia with his arms crossed whispering "They seem to think we are together, dear Lia." "You really do make it quite obvious. You should be more subtle, you know, like me!" He gives her a sideways grin and comers his side with an elbow, expect an elbow to the side for his sarcasm.

"Aha, we have visitors. Perhaps this is Cratol's delivery. Lawrance, did you have any luck with your project with the bow?"
Lawrance's inquiries resulted in an offer to do the project for 1,250 gold pieces, since the frame would have to be built custom.
The more prevalent issue is the time frame, he estimates three weeks before it is ready.
