The castle takes off and proceeds along where the group presumes the trail to go.
Soon enough, people return to the ground to check for the tracks where the Serpent Hills begin.
They're there, tracks of a few dozen men, two mules and two carts, just as you left them a fair number of miles back. The trail proceeds north into the hills, though it is not as easy to discern now.
Lia shakes her head as she looks at the surrounding hills." We had probably better stay on the ground from here on out. It will be easy to lose now as it is getting less distinct and the terrain is getting more rugged. Velon, what do you say?"
After being ferried back to the ground on Lia's broomstick, Tazskan takes note of his surroundings.
The trail continues north into the serpent hills.
"I think we need to push on, Velon lets seize the day," says Tazskan, noting that there is still plenty of daylight left.
He call's his psuedodragon back again, to scout for danger ahead. Not to stray any further than 100 feet of him.
During the trip to catch up, Nikolaos gives a sermon on Lathander guiding all of our paths.
Specific Action: using inspiring leader feat to give 11 temporary hps to any who listen. Will repeat as needed.
Out of Character: I meant to do this earlier in the day but luckily it didn't matter.
Velon grips his warhammer and thinks to himself that perhaps a stiff blow to the head could return Lawrance to the man they first met that didn't try to overcomplicate even walking to the Citadel or walking down this path, but resists the urge. He wonders if a tiny hut will pop up every 10 feet or so along the walk.
He ignores the man and starts walking down the trail. "Lia, Perry, Poljen, Taz, Poppo, Niko, care to join me? We're going to go fight a cult instead of playing with our spell books. Zarra, you're particularly good at tracking and that sort of thing, aren't you? Could you take the lead? These tracks are becoming harder to follow now."
Out of Character: It is clear the Dungeon Master wants us to follow these tracks, and they are difficult enough to do so now that a Survival check is required. If we just do that, I betcha the Dungeon Master will post that we find a clue as to Varram's whereabouts in his very next post, even, instead of next week!

Lia looks oddly at Lawrance." Unless this whole trip out here is a ruse to lure us in. As difficult as the trail is getting to read we wouldn't be able to move quickly anyways." Lia shrugs and glances at Velon. She then steps off to the side of the group with her bow ready. Lia scans the surrounding hills for watchers or anything unusual. She requests Sune to heighten her senses as well.
Out of Character: : Guidance is being utilized to assist as always. I have to think it is the most used cantrip or spell outside of combat in 5e.

"May Lathander guide you to our enemies and illuminate their path."
Specific Action: casting guidance and using bardic inspiration to assist with Zarra's tracking.
Out of Character: being able to perform better with guidance and louder with thaumaturgy was half the reason for my cleric dip. Plus light cleric seemed extra flashy. .
