Stepping forward and near that if Perry, she will consider the situation. "Does this darkness relate to the rise of the Scaled Tyrant, Tiamat, or those who wish to bring her to this plane? Perhaps a horn being used to call her to this world, or a different darkness. Oh, great Diderius," Zarra will ask, seeking to help the tiefling in his line of question, the drow hoping the that the wizard's ramblings may have something to do with why they were there.
Specific Action: Not sure if any rolls are needed, but I'm rolling Investigation and Insight to try to make any sense of his ramblings or gather information. If this line of questioning arouses suspicion, I will have Zarra fast talk or bluff her way past this if able.

Nikolaos prays briefly to Lathader for guidance then enters the room to address the soothsayer and others in the room.
"Oh I get it! He is like an audience member who has read the script of the play that you are performing and is reading lines out before it's time. The playwright penned a thousand drafts and he has read every play that might be performed. He cannot keep which one he is watching separated from the rest so the plot has become impossible to follow."
"Their are certain plot points that the author never gave up on, such as this horn. And those events will be inevitable. But which lines we say or roads we take are up to the improvisation of the actors. Those are the choices of which he speaks."
"Please Diderius, could you tell us of any of the inevitable events so that the choices that we make are the wise ones? You have seen which ways are folly and which contain wisdom."
Specific Action: making history check for knowledge about famous horns hoping horn proficiency would give advantage to my roll. Also hoping that the questioning of comrades will give advantage on persuasion roll.
In response to Zarra, the seer states with a sneer, "Her? She is darkness, but she does not heed the horn. It will not break the chains she rages against. She has grown strong in her struggles, stronger than before."
When Nikolaos asks his question Diderius yells out, "Wisdom?! It does not exist! All is folly!" His eyes focus on Nikolaos, "Help destroy the mundus, or watch endless despair. That is the choice your morninglord might soon have make. It will break him whichever he chooses. Break him into pieces! Folly, folly, folly!. I wanted knowledge, to know it all, and now I want anything else! Folly!" The wizard collapses into another fit of giggling
Nikolaos recalls a number of horns through history, some of which have an ominous effect, but none seem to fit. There's even one that literally calls darkness, but its impact was local, certainly nothing on the scale this man speaks of.
Out of Character: Sorry, no dice on horn proficiency granting advantage, taking first roll.

Lawrance hears the despair in the wizards voice and he ponders. On mention of the mundus he searches his knowledge And see if he can recall a reference to it or a horn. At a pause in the conversations, he says "Knowledgeable Diderius, why is the mundus so dangerous? How can we destroy it? Do you tire of being so full of visions? Is this remnant of life too onerous, now?"
Specific Action: history, arcana, religion checks.
Velon raises his hands and signals for the group to retreat from the room. He walks backwards slowly, hoping they can all make it out.
Out of Character: Curious to see if Daishain has any trouble brewing for us here before I have Velon speak back in the pool room.

Diderius calls after you as you go, plaintive as a scared child in spite of the words, "You cannot leave, I command it."
But the wizard does nothing to prevent the group from exiting, and soon enough the door cuts off his rambling so Velon can speak. The room with the scrying pool remains quiet, and there's no sign of anything through the other doors.

"Well that was… interesting. Sounds like this 'horn' might be worth looking into since there was probably at least some truth to much of what he said."
"Ok here's what I'm thinking. Those snake… things… probably do have Varram. It's tempting to leave him to his fate, but we can't be sure and perhaps we can get some information out of him. Trying to use the pool did not go well for Varram and his men, and you guys seem to think using this pool will also take a great deal of energy from us, ... Somehow. Perhaps we should deal with these snake men, see if Varram is still alive, then handle our 'contract', then try to pool in relative safety. Even if we don't care about Varram, it appears the snakes may attack when we try to use the pool."
"So, who's eager to enter that black hole in the other room with me?"
