Out of Character: : If Daishain rules Lawrance did not call out in time, so be it… but assuming he DID...
In Character: :
Poljen's left hand froze barely an inch from the door, and then he slowly took a step back. He grinned and nodded at Lawrance and stepped to the side, so the magic users in their group could work their wonders…
Perry sees the door as Lawrance gives the warning. "Is it harmful magic?" Perry asks. "Can either of you wizards remove it maybe?"
Out of Character: Maybe an Arcana check from the wizards followed by Dispel magic if we deem it to be harmful?
Poppo steps over to Lawrance and says, "I didn't really prepare anything but combat stuff for today. I've got a Counterspell but not much else in the way of utility spells." The halfling gets closer to the door raising his hand almost as if he can feel the magic emanating from it. "Transformative could mean some sort of magic mouth spell, right? Lawrance, can you cast a dispel on the door?"
The dispel magic seems to skip right off of the door, and the surface of it starts to ripple, shaping itself into a swarm of iron snakes. Most seem content to slowly shift about where they are, but two, one shaped like an adder, the other a King Cobra, lift themselves from the mass to stare coldly at Lawrance.
The adder states in perfect common, "Such impertinence." The cobra continues, "Indeed sister, slaves should conduct themselves with more deference."
Perry, a little creeped out by the sudden appearance of slithery snakes, will grasp his harmonica and watch the interaction intently for any hint of charm magic.
Specific Action: Readying an Action to play an interruptive note on the harmonica if the snakes attempt a charm spell on anyone in the party. This is the Bard's Countercharm ability.
Out of Character: I've never seen this ability used ever in any Dungeons & Dragons game, but it's always seemed useful on paper in those specific situations. It gives advantage to any saving throws versus charm and fear effects. Also, I don't think it's unreasonable for Perry to be alert to such tricks given that he is a charmer himself, he just saw it happen firsthand to Velon, and I roleplayed being ready for it in my previous post.

Velon moves towards the front of the group to see and hear what is going on. At the words of the adder and king cobra he steps up next to Lawrance and replies "Our apologies, greatest of all snakes." "We are but foolish travelers and the magic you used to conceal yourselves was beyond our humble comprehension. Will you accept our apologies? We will work on our manners."
Bemused by the appearance of the pseudo-snakes, Lawrance peers at them closely with the aid of his item. Scanning their existence in detail, he follows the sinuous curves as they disappear in the fixed form of the actual door. Whispering into Velon's ear, he tells about the likely origin of these artificial creatures and what kind of weaknesses they might have.
Specific Action: History roll to boost Velon's next roll to persuade the iron snakes to let them pass. +4 and advantage, if successful.
Out of Character: place him at AF68, if needed, or beside Velon if he is closer. For your information - Lawrance is out of 3rd level spell slots.
