Lia looks around the room. " I still say what about the possibility of a dragon? It would be suicide to ride out there if the enemies have a dragon at their disposal. Attacking is not always the best option. We do have shelter and some defenses behind the walls here. We give up any advantage we have to do this. There is no guarantee that we would have the element of surprise out there. It might be the other way around. " Lia stands there with arms folded as she awaits their response.
Poljen sighs. "Lia, I saw no sign of a full-grown dragon, and they are large. They leave much more sign of their passing. And this is fairly open country. If a dragon were attacking people in that area, most likely people here in town would have seen some sign. At the very least we need to scout these forces, and if we can deal them a blow we should. But now I will wait for others to speak up."
Sar'ai reaches the fort and releases the (Ex) mage into the custody of the first guard she encounters, "Keep him bound, he may yet have a trick up his sleeve… "
With that she eyes the pale tiefling as she receives a flurry of thoughts, not her own, of a meeting between Onthar and the others. The wizard knew ways of communication without words, but this was new. Regardless, Sar'ai got the message and began heading toward Nyzahr.
"I see the value of subterfuge is not lost on you as it would appear to be among some in our group." Sar'ai smiles with intrigue as she continues, "I heard mention of Elanna perhaps being needed for some reconnaissance, but Poljen found some pigeons already? Let us see what the brute managed to uncover, if anything."
Sar'ai suggests listening to Poljen's report. Upon hearing about the Kobolds, the half-drow gives a muffled laugh at the thought that this was the threat everyone was worried about. However, her demeanor quickly changes as it is mentioned they are apparently accompanied by dragonborn as well as, by the description given, most likely drakes.
Then, just the thought entered Sar'ai's mind as well, Lia speaks out about a possible dragon.
"Indeed. With the alters Geoffroy's been identifying as belonging to Tiamat, and now the presence of several dragon-kin, it is almost assured that those scorch marks are from a dragon. This would make sense as well as to the apparent 'queen' the man whose tongue I removed was referring to." The half-drow doesn't let anyone linger on that last statement before continuing, "But, why Greenest? What's here that a dragon would desire?" The wizard's gaze turns to those present who are leaders of the town.
Out of Character: Sar'ai will do an insight as she scans the people assembled as they respond to her inquiry.

Poljen snorts. "If a dragon had been breathing fire that close to town, it would have been noticed." He suddenly smiles. "Most likely those dragonborn used their own breath. Now I agree that there may be a dragon nearby, but it is staying hidden, probably at this camp in the mountains we have heard tell about. But if this dragon comes for the town, the town will burn. The fort MIGHT survive. And that's if we face just a dragon. I still say it is worth scouting this group, and eliminating them if we can. I would rather face a smaller group, even if it outside the town and fort, than all of them from inside these walls."
Geoffroy make his way back to where he had last seen the others, seeking directions if needed to get to where everyone was. Elyria was with them, the two of them eventually finding their way to the others. The cleric hoped more had been learned and that and plan might be formed as a course of action. The SIlver Blaze needed to find answers, find a way to keep everyone safe.
He asks them the situation, as well let them know of what he had learned at the temple of the man's status with Geoffroy's hope that he will be able to provide much needed information on what is going on. The squire greets Lia and the others, though keeps mostly quiet for now as everything is discussed though Elyria might speak later.
The Morninglord considers before saying, "I believe we might need more scouting, to learn more information. Is there a way of casting invisibility on Elanna perhaps, so that she can get in closer?" He asks this question to Sarai, hoping the half drow might not only have such a spell prepared but that such could be used on the bird.
He considers the information and agrees with the words and thoughts expressed by others, "What is so important about Greenest, who whether a dragon or another seek to go through so much trouble? Finding an answer to this question is key." Geoffroy hopes they can figure such out in time, as if they do the party can better find a way of saving the city.

Lia frowns at Poljen. " Your answer for anything is to attack. There could be 10,000 enemies out there and you would want to attack. Sometimes defense is preferred over attacking. A lot of this points to a dragon. You say it must be hiding. A signal was just sent up. If a party rides out there when the dragon happens to fly out of the mountains.... What then? We risk much to eliminate those that you saw. What do we gain? If that is a sizeable part of the enemy forces then we have nothing to fear at all. Most likely it is just a fraction of the forces being brought to bear here. Destroying them will not not make much difference there and isn't worth the risk to me. You are a very brave man Poljen. Sometimes you have to temper that with caution. "
Cratol just sits there resting as everyone talks about what to do. While he thinks it might be a good idea to elinate those around us so we only get attacked from one side he also does not want to be out doing mop up when the main force arrives if it arrives. But since he does not have a military mind he stays quiet.
Nyzahr perks up at the mention of casting Invisibility on Sar'ai's familiar… she throws the half-elf a quizzical look: would this be a valid scouting strategy ?
Out of Character: : this is probably a very good way to scout out, combining a small flying animal and the 1 hour duration of a standard invisibility spell… just might work to everyone's best advantage. What does Sar'ai think of sending out her bird companion out in the open like this ?.
