Velon is happy to assist Perry in interrogating Varram and the other cultist once again. He listens to Perry's questions and any answers Varram or the other provide, and adds a few of his own. "Who is in charge at the well? Who is bringing all of these cults together? When will they summon Tiamat? Where are the other masks? Who has them? How could we deal the biggest blow to the dragon cults? How can we destroy the well? Are any on the dragon council with Protanther involved?" He will ask Lia to cast zone of truth if need be, and will otherwise focus on discerning the truth from any statements Varram makes.
----------
With regard to the transportation and trade business, Velon is sure to thank Niko, Lawrance, Perry and anyone else involved in managing these tasks. Although he usually gets along with with strangers, he otherwise has little knowledge of such business. He will donate 1,000G to the cause of buying dwarven wares since his companions are confident they can sell it all for a profit in Baldur's Gate. He expects his 1,000G back, but otherwise, of course, wants the profit to go to the castle funds.
----------
Velon will suggest to Perry, Taz and Zarra that the Harpers may be able to recommend some honest folk for the work, based on what he has heard about them from the original Blaze members in their travels. He also suggests they could hire a wizard apprentice once at Candlekeep, to study under Lawrance and be in charge of small tasks like the upkeep of alarm spells in the castle, detecting unwanted magic daily, etc.
----------
Lastly, over a meal with everyone on the way to Baldur's Gate, Velon speaks more of the men they saw in Diderius's pool. "I know we are going to find out more about the horn, but to me it seems we might as well be gathering information on everything we can. I keep thinking of the wizard we saw and that he was eager to get rid of the mask, even giving it to a church of Bahamut to be destroyed. I feel that knowledge is an opportunity we may not want to waste. What more can we do to identify this wizard and find out more about him? Perhaps we could set up a meeting with him away from the Zhentarim stronghold, perhaps for other more mundane business, and make him an offer. It would be dangerous but we should be able to put safeguards in place. Perhaps one of us meets him and uses the teleportation scroll we have to teleport to a place unknown to him and the Zhents. That way they cannot set a trap unless they catch us in that brief moment before we teleport. I'm sure we could come up with something, at least."
"I agree, Velon. The fact there was division on keeping the mask presents an opportunity that would be a great way to avoid a conflict. We should fuel that division and make it seem as unappealing as possible for the Zhentarim to keep the mask, emphasizing through rumor channels and such it's hazard. After all, every cultist who wants to see her return will be trying to get it from them, which would be very bad for their business! With suitable precautions and blinds, we should be able to have a sale without risk."
Out of Character: So far, I've got 2K from the castle, 500 from Lawrance and Niko and 1k from Velon. Anyone else investing in the trade? Aside from Velon, all profits are your own.

Poljen says to Niko, "Of course. But I will not accompany you as you complete your business. I don't want anyone following me to realize we are working together. I will give an hour or two to do as you wish, by walking around, then make my way to the Swan. By then you hopefully will be there, maybe playing your music. If you spot anyone following me, play a specific song. Later if you think they are going to try to go into the room I pay for, play a different specific song so I will be ready. Ha! This will be a fine trap." He pauses, then purses his lips. "If anyone falls for it, that is. If not, well, an afternoon at the Swan could not be called 'wasted,' eh? Ha!"
Out of Character: : Poljen should have some coin available for add for the trading, since he only upgraded his sword, great axe and shield. He will add 1k gold. I'll also knock off a couple of hundred for incidentals such as food, etc.

Varram stubbornly resists the first casting of Suggestion, but succumbs to the second, going glassy eyed as he begins to answer questions,
“Why do you call the white mask yours? What do you mean by that?"
"I am the White Wyrmspeaker, that mask is mine by right. It is the symbol of my station, and the reward for my service."
"Weren’t you looking for it for the sake of the cult?"
"Yes, but also for my own sake."
"Are they the ones who sent you on the quest to find it?"
"No, the task was mine."
"Why did you send such a small group to find it?”
"My failure to find it before had harmed my standing among my followers already. If this expedition failed, it would have been another black mark. Best to keep those who knew few in number."
"What do you know about us?"
"Dead people, that's all I need to know. You'll soon learn the cost of defying her magnificence."
"Who is in the Cult?"
"We are legion, we are everywhere." (If pressed, he'll give up some names, but it seems that his branch, the White Wing, doesn't do much in the way of infiltration, and he knows few details about the other branches in this regard.)
"What masks do you know the whereabouts of?"
"Red is at the well"
"What's your plan now?"
"Find a way out, reactivate the poison trap we used against the giants here."
"What do you hold most valuable?"
"My mask"
"Who told you how to find the White Mask?"
"Sildar suggested trying Diderius' tomb when his scrying failed."
"Have they also told you how to find the other masks?"
"No"
"Do you know where the Black Mask is?"
"No"
"Who is in charge at the well?"
"I am, with the other four wyrmspeakers. We answer only to the Mother."
"Who is bringing all of these cults together?"
"Just one faith, it has always been one faith. Just different expressions."
"When will they summon Tiamat?"
"It was going to be when all masks were brought together. It would make the breaking of her chains easier. That may change."
"Where are the other masks? Who has them?"
"Severin has had the Red for years, Neronvain found the Green a month past. You took the Black. I do not know of Blue or White."
"How could we deal the biggest blow to the dragon cults?"
"Severin binds and inspires. He is our lynchpin."
"How can we destroy the well?"
"The bones of thousands of great ones lend to its strength. It is greater than any of us. Destruction is not a thing mortals could achieve."
"Are any on the dragon council with Protanther involved?"
"I do not know"
The trading goes well. All in all, the group earns an 80% return on their investment. The investment of the castle funds itself should now prove sufficient to hire one of the more expensive mercenary groups around here.
Out of Character: Bear in mind all answers are from his perspective, and could even include lies if he's not aware of them. Neronvain has not been mentioned before. The name is elvish.

Out of Character: Castle funds now stand at 5249 GP, including Velon's donation of profit. Those who invested 1k get back 1800, half for those who put in 500. Velon gets his 1k back *smile* Presuming the dwarven made ballistas are superior to Baldur's Gate ones, we won't buy any here. Dai, let me know the cost of the hiring/recruiting, if necessary.
Out of Character: I just want to clarify that the dialogue below takes place in the past after getting the answers from Varram. Perry/Penelope is actually currently at Baldur’s Gate.
--
Penelope will turn to Velon and Lia after hearing the prisoner’s answers, dust her hands off, and triumphantly proclaim, “Welp, my job here is done. He’s one tough cookie though, that’s for sure. Anyway, I’ve already spent enough time staring at his ugly mug. If you need me, I’m gonna go take a bath and get some food before we reach our destination.”
Penelope waves with the back of her hand as she exits the chamber and heads towards Perry’s room.

Meanwhile, Perry, Lia, and Velon were busily interrogating Varram and his cohort. At about that same time, Tazskan had gone back to his room, and shut the door behind him.
He takes out the holy symbol of Tiamat, quickly examines it, then puts it aside. He then takes out his newly acquired crystal ball, which he brought from the citadel.
"Now, begin's some work to do," He says muttering to himself. He clears his mind, staring intently at the crystal ball.
Out of Character: Tazskan is now taking the appropriate time to meditate and attune himself with the crystal ball. Which is not less than 1 hour.
Dai, can you give me a houserule, on using an item such as a holy symbol, to locate a particular place. Where that item came from? Or is it where the owner of that item, is currently placed??
While remaining in the castle, Lawrance will perform regular maintenance of the labs and rooms, using his magic to clean and Unseen Servants to tidy up and repair various issues. As an aside covertly, he will also be checking for unknown magics and sensing any of the staff for magical ability.
Specific Action: Detect magic ritual castings, using the Robe to see invis, etc. As a security measure.
Out of Character: are there families in this castle now that we have staff? Do any of the children show magical ability in wizard class, or how would Lawrance test this? An apprentice is a good idea, but I'd say young and involved somehow with family in the castle is better than a random apprentice.
