Lisa eyes glint as she hears the boy speak. She shakes her head, causing her long tresses to cascade around her back. Pacing back and forth, mixed emotions are visible behind her attempt at a serene face. She utters softly, "I have not forgotten what Cyanwrath's forces did to those women. Justice is at hand."
Mari listens with a smile upon her face. The smile doesn't reach her eyes however. Her hands each grip a dagger tightly behind her back.
The boy shakes his head, "I know nothing of this place. My father worked for ser Francesca, a minor baron with a fort a few weeks south of here. Its gone now, but I've been stuck working for these people ever since."
He squirms when asked what he would do if released, "I don't know, I want to leave this all behind, but they hunt deserters down immediately. What they do to them is horrific."
Morgaine will not be there when the young lad is questioned. She will spend time in the courtyard practicing with her weapon.
Velon asks the others to join him outside if they have no more questions. Once out of earshot of the boy, he asks the party "Do you think this young one has to die for joining the cult, or should we let him go once this is all over?" "We could lock him up for now and release him after the battle, perhaps even take him and his sister to our next destination and leaving them there. He did just say he'd rather leave it all behind under the truth spell. I have a hard time killing the lad like this as he would seem to be little threat to us nor to others if removed from this situation, but I understand if some of you would have concerns."
Regarding their plan, Velon thinks of everything everyone has said and tries to suggest something that takes it all into account. "It would seem that our first true attempt to bombard with the castle is upon us, eh? Having our main team on the ground is risky, but we could try it. I dare not get too close to that camp for fear of their sheer numbers and the many mounted patrols that would circle in behind us, never mind the potential poor aim we might have from above with simple rocks. What do you all say to taking out one patrol just as the bombing starts, and assessing the situation from there? Perhaps we could take out several patrols to thin their ranks, or perhaps small numbers will flee towards us from the camp. If too many come at us, however, we must flee. Also, if anyone thinks they can take on 100 men and decides to charge right into the middle of such a force, we must leave them to it and keep the group safe, as it is folly." At this last part, he gives Poljen a quick glance.
Striking during the day will give us a much better view of what we face so we can keep our distance from any large forces, but if the mages sleep in the camp at night that is also a great opportunity…
Out of Character: Daishain, have we gotten a sense for whether or not the mages return to the camp at night, or simply stay within the maze area? If they do not sleep there, I vote we just do this when we can see how many men are near the party. Also, have we been able to map the maze at all? Have we seen how many entrances the maze has, etc. At least if we want to head in there?
Lia purses her lips as she listens to her lover." We can't kill him. He doesn't want to be a part of it. It would be cruel and senseless murder to kill him. Get him away from here where he can start a new life. I will give him some gold to help him get started."
She shrugs as he sets out a plan." That's about as good of a plan as I can think of Velon. That gives us a chance to exploit the bombing and confusion. It also keeps us from getting trapped by their forces. Maybe Lawrance should have some of his phantom steeds on standby." She smiles at him.
Mari looks down as they talk about this. She is quiet for a moment as she gathers her thoughts. Speaking quietly she says, "We need to put terror into their hearts. If we can only harass them then we must terrorize them. Make them sleep uneasy, worried about their throats being slit. However many we kill, I suggest we mutilate the bodies. Sever the heads and put them in their hands or line them up along the ground. My former organization uses such tactics when necessary. Terror will make us seem much stronger. Their imagination will go wild. I know this might bother some of you. These are monsters that we are fighting. The end we seek justifies us doing whatever it takes to succeed."
Lia looks at her in revulsion. She then glances at Velon with worry evident.

Velon rolls his eyes at the mention of phantom steeds but then smiles at Lia. "Yeah, yeah, ok, steeds are probably a good idea here, whether it be because we get too far away from our platform or if something happens the platform. We'll certainly bring a number of men down to guard the platform itself, and they can help manage the steeds."
At Mari's words Velon's eyes grow wide and he is a bit shocked. At first he just pictures fireballs and the like and knows that many in the group will agree that we should give them a good scare, but then at mention of mutilation and severed heads he grows uneasy.
Hesitantly, Velon says "You are not wrong, Mari." "You are probably right even, that it would be effective." He is quiet for another second. "I am no philosopher, but what would such things say about the Silver Blaze, I wonder? A priest I knew once taught me that often terrible deeds are done in the name of a just outcome, and that this is often the path to evil. Perhaps we must be better than the Zhents, even if it makes our task that much more difficult?"
"I believe the plan is as good as it gets. We bomb them take out a patrol or two and then head back up here to see what they do. If the mages have not been back to the camp for two days I doubt we will catch them in the camp."
