"Perhaps we need these gems for something?" Perry asks. "Should we grab them and see if that's maybe some part of the puzzle? I can do it or I can help someone more dexterous as well."
Out of Character: Daishain I believe you said earlier that the gems would require some degree of careful handling to avoid dropping them right? Which check would that be?

Poljen looks at the plinth and the glass stones in it, to see if the order of their placement has changed.
Out of Character: : Wisdom check, not Save? Save gets +1 from the Cloak. I will also add an Investigation roll for the stones, in case the Wisdom check is not about the stones.
Poljen takes another look at the stones and realizes the colors are off.
Three of the paths back in the fountain area closely match the color and hue of one of the fake gemstones shown here.
The turquoise path however, does not. It is the closest among those you've seen to blue, but is considerably brighter and more greenish than the deep blue sapphire.
Out of Character: it would be a slight of hand check to remove the gems.
And yes, I meant a wisdom check, not a save. It is the equivalent of a skill check when no trained skill actually applies.
Poljen stares at the plinth, frowning. He then says softly, "Lawrance, Velon. Maybe my eyes are wrong, or I am reading too much into this. But this sapphire, glass or not, is not quite the same color as the blue path. The other stones seem to match the path colors, but this one does not. Maybe at the four circle fountain we need to find another way out. In the water? No, the creature would be a problem… maybe we should return there and poke around some more."
"Ok, let's go take the blue, er, blue-ish green(?) path directly to see if that yields anything interesting or just brings us back to the first fountain as we'd expect. Then, yes, I say we try to take out this troublesome pest living in the fountain and then Perry can stick his head in and see if there's anything worthwhile inside. We can do so at the first fountain, at the fourth, or at all of them."
Velon had suggested Perry specifically in jest, and watches for his reaction. He or Poljen would likely take the risk, or a familiar or arcane eye or something of that nature.
