Poljen looks quite surprised when the snakes opt to retreat at the entrance of Perry. He certainly wonders why that happened. He mutters, "Maybe when the Cult of the Dragon came through they cast some spell to allow dragonborn and their like free passage." The large man shrugs. "No matter. We shall accept the good fortune."
He turns and begins slowly exploring the passage as the others begin to gather…
Out of Character: : Only going a short distance. He will let the regular scouts move ahead when they are ready…
Mari glances at Perry." O great master of subterfuge. Are you ready to go? Please enlighten me some more." She smirks and begins to head down the passage checking carefully for anything out of the ordinary.
Lia stashes her shield again. Taking up her bow, she has an arrow nocked as she goes. The cleric will stay at the back of the group as they proceed.

"Uhm, yes, of course! As a master, I would normally go ahead and scout, but, you see, I have the immensely important job of protecting the rear from surprise attacks! Yes, you never know what could be lurking from where we just came! Anyway, you have been doing well so far, young Mari. You can practice some more on scouting while I supervise from back here."
Perry stays towards the center back of the group. He has a wide grin on his face, seemingly enjoying teasing Mari.
Out of Character: Perry will keep an eye out for any danger or peculiar things as we move through the passage as well.

“Yes, we all know how important you consider protecting your rear. It’s reassuring to know that, with you at the back, we’ll hear it easily if something encounters your tail-end.” Lawrence grins as he keeps moving forward.
The passage slopes down, and down, winding its way into the stone. Light can eventually be seen ahead, and then the group steps out into sunlight. A blue sky can be seen above, and tall hedges are on either side of the path.
Continuing on, the path widens, a door is at the far side, with a rather ostentatious lock on it.
In the center of the clearing are two figures. On the right, is a large stone statue of a hybrid creature, a winged lion with the face of a woman.
On the left, is another woman, not a statue, this one almost entirely human in appearance, though with snakes instead of hair. A blue nimbus surrounds her, and she remains unmoving.
The two figures stand facing each other in aggressive postures, as if locked in battle.
Out of Character: It occurs to Lawrance that something is different about Perry since he had been attacked by the worm things before, he pocketed that fake gemstone recently.

Poljen sees the tableau before them and shakes his head. He knows so little of magic that he will stay back, and only offer ideas if he comes up with something. He also figures either they will get past the two frozen figures and open the gate, no doubt finding Cyanwrath and others, or they may have to fight one or both of the currently-frozen figures. He decides to go ahead and drink his healing potion.
As he wipes his lips after drinking it he says, "I expect Cyanwrath is waiting for us. He saw the castle, and probably knows the Silver Blaze captured it. So once those gates open, we will need to be ready."
As a traveler, storyteller, and bard, Perry has heard of many legends of creatures both famous and infamous. Few are more iconic than that of the Medusa, an evil creature that can petrify with its gaze. As he sees the two creatures locked in battle, he immediately looks to Lawrance and silently nods. Perry looks down towards the ground and ruffles around in his pockets to make note of the location of his steel mirror.
Over the mental link, Perry says, "Hey guys, she seems out of it right now but DO NOT look directly at the one with the snake hair. That's a Medusa, a creature that can petrify you if you look it in the eyes. Medusas are evil. It looks like her latest victim was this sphinx lady. She was probably petrified by the Medusa. Should we help her? I think we should. She might help us out if we help her."
