Cratol looks at the metal figure. He gets a firm grasp on his staff as he positions himself ahead of the plinth and waits for someone to step in a circle to begin this next challenge. Knowing they will all have to work together to bring this down he looks to the others to see what the plan is going to be.
Lia's brow furrows as she sees the back and forth argument. She starts muttering in elvish something about children then switches for common." We are on a dangerous quest. The fate of the world could actually rest on our shoulders. Yet we can't even get along. Men.... Really. I'm very disappointed. We must focus on the task ahead. ". As the door opens she steps astride her broom and flies a few feet above the ground. Lia will search the area diligently for any clue that might help. She asks Sune to aid her as always.
Mari eyes Perry and Lawrance and just shakes her head. She is about to say something but stops as Lia speaks out. When the door swings open she looks around curiously as well.
"Stand on the blue one and bow or kneel, maybe? The guests of the gnomes wouldn't be required to fight a golem to come for tea."Staying well back of the possible melee area, along the wall, Lawrance contemplates all he knows about golems and their vulnerabilities and abilities.
Poljen shrugs. "Guests would probably be told how to get by it. If they ever have any, that is." The big man furrows his brow, obviously deep in thought… at least for him. He finally says, "We have been warned it take us working together, uh, 'cooperation and trust,' I believe. So probably in some way more than one of the stones will need to be stood upon. Possibly in a certain order?"
He turns to Velon. "If you wish someone to see if it is safe, I can go first. Lawrance, Perry, make sure to see what changes when a stone is stood upon. Not just to that stone, but the others. And even the Guardian… "
Out of Character: : If Velon wishes Poljen to play guinea pig, he will stand on the deep blue stone, holding his breath, waiting for trouble.
Morgaine, hearing Poljen speak up about the "Cooperation and trust"; she states to the group: "Could that mean that each of the 3 stones must be stood upon at the same time or like Poljen here mentioned in a certain order?"
Velon listens to everyone, especially Poljen on this one. "I think you are right, considering what we were told about cooperation. I'll follow your lead, but we'll see what stepping on one stone does first, even if just for a second."
At that, Velon goes and stands next to the gray stone. "Can someone stand next to the colorful stone too, incase we need to 'activate' that, or something? Maybe the rest just spread out near stones, too?"
Velon gets into position and looks to Lawrance and the others for any last thoughts before nodding to Poljen to give it a go.
Out of Character: Want to see if Lawrance gets any info on his arcana check or Lia on some rolls before getting too hasty on actions, but otherwise Velon is ready for what Poljen suggested.
Lawrence recalls a great deal about golems. They're typically very strong creations, powerful and tough, but slow and expensive.
Most have some kind of built-in resistance to spells, and in some cases, have even been known to benefit from being hit with certain elements. From there, abilities vary slightly. Golems tend to be Brawlers, but some display special abilities, such as producing pressurized steam.
Unfortunately, every Golem maker adds their own qualities to their constructions. This one in particular, appears to be an unusual design, not least due to the extra limbs which appear intended to allow it to engage multiple opponents. It is difficult to say for certain what properties this particular specimen will have
Out of Character: that check was high enough, feel free to go through any of the Golem creature entries and make use of details in there.
After Lawrance passes on everything he recalls about these kinds of automatons, he says "Is engaging in combat with it a really good idea? At the very least it's going to get a lot of swings on anyone it fights, and if it's one of those resistant to magic all I'll be able to do is boost one of you a little.
