Final Rounds
The defenders have some time to gather and prepare, but then there is a disturbance at the gate. A flurry of ice smothers the flames as several white dragonborn use their breath. Geoffroy's spell gutters for a moment, but then recovers as the frosty barrage ends.
Someone at the fort begins sounding a deep horn, a last warning for people to abandon everything and run to the fort.
And then they come, squeezing through the gaps, trying to ignore burns and avoid slipping on ice as they seek to overwhelm the defenders. At first, it is a bloodbath. Only a few make it through at a time, and they are picked off one by one by arrows and bolts, Onwen's sleep spell drops a small pack of kobolds that wriggled through at once, who are then trampled by their comrades.
Then the tide begins to turn. Geoffroy's Flaming Sphere winks out, and they begin moving through more swiftly. Some live long enough to shift the last debris holding the second door shut. It opens wide, and the army begins pouring through in earnest.
Targul, Poljen, and Nyzahr help Onthar, Blackjack, and a few others cut down the few who manage to make it to the barricade, but more and more are getting that far.
It is not long before Onthar calls the retreat, and men press torches to several places along the barricades, prompting flame to spread. They drop the torches and start running, and others begin peeling off as well.

Cratol finds that this part of town seems to be fairly deserted. The nearby ruckus at the gate seems to have caught the attention of any stragglers who had remained. The pigeon lady's home in particular appears to be empty. As the monk continues to move west however, he finds other civilians still out and about, in spite of the warning horn he heard recently. Most have left, but many are searching for family members, or occupied trying to save treasured possessions. The monk encourages them to move on to the fort as he can.
[Targul took a sword cut for 8 damage, reduced to 5. No others in the party were harmed throughout that mess, thanks to your efforts, the enemy never quite got in position to properly strike back. Sar'ai has made good progress, but is still only perhaps a third of the way to the fort's ramp. Since it seems clear such wasn't her intention, I presumed Nyzar did not inflict a lot of friendly fire with Thunderwave, and instead rolled a few more basic attacks for her.]
Poljen revels in the chaos, causing as much damage as he can, but soon it is obvious the army is firmly inside. The burning barricade seems to be slowing their advance so Poljen helps to hustle the remaining defenders to fall back. "Go! To the fort! But keep your eyes peeled for stragglers that need help!"
Out of Character: : If Poljen sees someone struggling to get to the fort he will help drag/carry people and/or items they have that could be useful (Food, supplies, etc.). If the invaders are closing the gap he will watch for any point that might make for even a brief choke point where he, and any members of the Blaze willing, could delay the bad guys a round or three…
Lia grimaces as the enemy drives them back from the barricades. She knows that they made the enemy pay dearly for what they had gained though. She begins yelling as well. " Fall back to the fort. We will hold them off there. Fall back. " She races ahead towards the fort. Lia will assist with stragglers if need be as well. The cleric will stay towards the back of the defenders to make sure everyone gets to the fort safely.
Geoffroy looks around to see who of the Silver Blaze is in sight and making their way to safety, as well any other stragglers, before preparing himself to retreat to the fort as well considering how to delay the enemy forces farther.
If the notices Nyzar and sees that she is at risk for how far the tiefling still needs to go before reaching safety, he will castsanctuary on her. If not, he will see about providing other aid and even healing for those that need such.
Out of Character: : I rolled for other spells just in case Geoffroy can't see the tiefling or she is not in range.

Cahleth slings his bow over his shoulder, and grabs two daggers from his belt. He hangs back, repeating Sir Onthar's command to anyone who may not have heard it. He lingers, making sure every last person is headed toward the fort before he, himself starts that direction, bringing up the rear.
At Onthar's command Onwen falls back to the fort in a fighting withdraw, using a move action then casting chill touch on any enemy that is within range repeating this process until he and the others are at the fort.
Nyzahr prances towards the fort on hooved feet, her Armorean Pipes ringing their war tune.
Out of Character: : not sure if the last D6 of Inspiration was used by Lia, but if not it might still be available for her. Lia, let me know if you did use it or still want to. Otherwise the bard will retain it for another use until she gets to rest again (And something tells me that rest might not come for a while yet…).
