Not the best start, but you can turn it around.
Cyanwrath is easier to hit than Poljen thanks to that disadvantage, and has considerably less effective health (When he is only taking physical damage, Poljen's effective HP bar is at a whopping 104), but he is also making attacks three times as often as the barbarian can, and hits a little harder.
In that regard, in spite of the delay in actually getting the fight started, Poljen can rely on that Bless spell for the full minute duration (Ten rounds).

He is a sixth level Oath of the Crown paladin with the Polearm Master Feat. So two main attacks, with a third made as a bonus action but at reduced damage. Just be glad he's not applying smites to those strikes as per the terms of the duel, your resistance wouldn't help with radiant damage.
Actually, come to think of it, this guy is something of a much darker reflection of my character Leo.
That's why I suggested the unenchanted weapons, hoping he'd offer to go without spells… but his attacks per round are a major advantage.
Oops, I did not do the extra rounds for damage and Bless. I will do that here, and roll the extra damage for the critical strike as well.
