Okay, seems like the spell didn't pan out, then…

Just to clear the point and refresh my mind on this: about this DC roll to cast spells in 5e, how does that work again ? Would that be a Charisma check with Armor adjustments for a Bard spell ? .

It's not that Ash. There is something interfering with our spells. A lot of spells haven't worked previously in this area. Only certain type spells work but we haven't exactly figured out what all works yet.

Spells are cast automatically. The only time you need to roll is if it is some type of ranged attack.

Certain situations, such as taking damage at the wrong time or being on a ship in the middle of a storm, can force you to make a Concentration roll to cast or maintain a spell.

But no, you don't normally have to roll anything to cast. As Kyr says, there's something else going on. Check the post I made, I edited in a further explanation.

Aaham....

I did think of a Dispell Magic being used, but over such a massive area that seemed a bit paranoid.

Interesting… that would be a seriously powerful caster at work then, either that or some artifact… or a group of casters working together maybe ? OR an extra planar creature or Deity. Although that would seem extremely unlikely, at such low levels.

Intriguing.

No more bird chat, in any case.

Yes, some things that Sar'ai has kind of "Figured out" is that divination magic seems to have the most interference, like Detect Magic, however ritual Detect Magic seemingly works. Evocation and Conjuration don't seem to be affected.
Also healing magics and illusory magics seem to work.

Welp, here's another bit of info to consider.

Poljen's casting of Beast Sense as a ritual works just fine, though he feels some resistance to it. If he takes the full ten minutes to finish it up, he'll be able to perceive via the horse's senses.

Since I can't post until later, he will complete the ritual, make sure it works, then announce to the smarter members of the group what he has done and the results. He will allow the effect to dissipate unless someone can suggest a reason to actually use it. But maybe we can find an animal willing to allow it senses to be used for scouting that we don't have to seize control of. It also does not say, as far as I can tell, how close one needs to be to the creature to maintain the link. Presumably then he could remain in one place while it flies/runs/swims miles away…
