As far as getting off is concerned we brought two griffons which can transport at least one a piece, assuming they have not been stolen.
Depending on how high we are makes a difference on whether a flight spell would work or not. A single casting gives 6000 feet of movement without dashing I forget if the home rules for this campaign give 3 or 4 times move speed. For reference humans die at about 26000 feet above sea level.
Levitate might also work because in the spell description it says when it ends the target floats slowly to the ground.
Other than that I think rules as written falling maxes out at 20d6 bludgeoning damage so some of our meatier company could try that way. I would not recommend that though.
Tazskan, Cinder is referring to Velon, he's a level 2 paladin, level 5 sorcerer.
The dead wizard in this room had an arcane focus you can use.
It takes 2 hours per spell level to copy a spell, so 2 hours for witch bolt. However, in case you're asking for yourself, that's a Wizard thing, you won't be able to learn it this way.
As to steering the castle, basic course shifts and landing are well within Poppo's and Lawrance's grasp at present so long as they take it slow.
If you do question the cultist(s), ask how long until they are missed.
As for getting off the flying castle, the newcomers probably are not aware of our teleportation scroll. We still might have too many people for it. So finding a way to land it and evacuate is optimal. Evacuate and unload all the treasure if possible of course. But to do that we will need to eliminate the rest of the opposition, including the vampire and dragon.

The scroll can manage 9 at max, there are 11 people in this group (Including the Dvati twins who count as 1 person as far as the magic is concerned.)
If the gryphons are still where you left them, two could fly off, and the rest can teleport out.
Of course, if the gryphons aren't there, or the flyers among the enemy are out and about…
In any case, how are we handling the current situation?

There's always Feather Fall. It can affect up to 5 people within 60 feet, for one minute, so we could free-fall and Poppo and/or L could soften the landings that way. Once the long rest is done, He'll have it in mind for such a purpose (Lawrance wants his own way out, if needed.).
Do your interrogation and lets see what you find out. Daishain, how high up is the castle? Can we tell that from the controls by now?

You know, I am not even sure our magic folks can banish/dismiss Esclarotta. Has that been thought about?
And honestly, if we can remove the opposition, I think we can persuade her to stay with us long enough to empty the treasury, and so on. Then drop it on something near and dear to the cult. She seems reasonable, and angry with the cult. We should have a chat with her about such things. As long as we promise to free her in the end, I bet she will be amenable to helping.
Holy crow, you people were busy today! A full day of classes and meetings means I didn't get anything fun done until now *smile*
Poppo would definitely not like to see undead rise in any area he is confined to. Being lawful good he wouldn't agree with it for any reason but he's also scared to death of undead.
There are no magic items that seem particularly useful to Poppo either. The mage's spellbook definitely will interest him but he and Lawrance can continue to use it as part of the communal library until such time as they can get things copied into their own books.
Poppo has been chatting up the queen so hopefully, he has enough of a rapport with her to discuss options on what she would like to be done with the castle and how we can free her if/when the time comes.
The castle is holding steady at about a mile and a half up, you can get lower if needed.
In regards to Esclarotta, it isn't a matter of banishing her, but rather loosening her shackles, there isn't anything else binding her here. Poppo and Lawrance will find that to be fairly simple, removing or destroying one of the glass panels of her chamber would be sufficient.
