I hate leaving behind players/ characters as well. I don't see a safe alternative to that. It would be terrible to have some cultist enter the room when we leave it unattended and break the glass. They would rather crash this castle than leave it with us I'm sure. Maybe different characters could stay behind? Otherwise we do risk something unexpected and unpleasant happening.
Please read my in-game post for an idea.
Dai, a rather unimportant question: if the Ring spells when cast take just as much time to cast as they do normally, does charging the ring with a spell happen with no casting time? If not, it seems like casting the spell twice.
Second question - can a familiar in 5e gain skills/HD/stuff to make them develop as a minor character, or are they really as disposable as it seems?
Sorry, zero magic left in Velon until the long rest ended, so no healing spell to store.
Calling out to give the cultists a chance to come out could help after we sweep the place. I doubt we'll be cutting the throat of the dragon with a stick anyhow, so it will surely be aware of us before we fight it. Thus calling for any remaining cultists to surrender probably can't hurt.
The ring/Esmerelda idea is probably the best option if we choose to have everyone go fight the dragon. Out of Character: I really had to deny any player that fun just for strategic reasons. We're all here to play, after all. Someone with misty step could also potentially help bar the door from the inside and then step out, but the hut is probably stronger anyhow. Having to save slots for that and to get back in seems wasteful anyhow.
There is no reason why everyone in the party cannot have the temporary hps unless their character would be unwilling to listen to Nikolaos for 10 minutes.
My understanding of the Feat is that he could stand on a street corner and use it till his voice gave out, giving out thousands of temporary hps. With the limitation of he can only inspire 6 at a time in a 10 minute period.
Very nice then! Lora will be glad to take some temporary hit points as well. We will need all we can versus a dragon.
Daishain, I want to say thanks again for all the time and effort you put into this campaign. Almost exactly a year ago we were rolling up characters and getting started on this grand campaign! I've enjoyed every minute of it so far.
