You don't add proficiency, but it is irrelevant in this case. The DC for the check there is 10 plus the level of the spell involved, meaning the only way for it to not have worked is if Glazhael was an epic level spellcaster, which very fortunately for you guys, he is not.
Since I have my rule books at home, I will ask why you don't add Proficiency. What I found online said use your Spellcasting Ability. Is it because there is no actual Skill involved, like Arcana or something? I would figure it would be based on the relevant Stat, and don't bards get to add Prof Bonus to Charisma checks? I am sure I am misunderstanding something, so I look forward to you clearing me up on this.
Dispel magic is specifically casting ability only, if the spell is higher than your Dispel Magic cast. The reason is because it is a contest between your spell and the spell on the other side, not the caster.
Also, Guidance is an action spell, not a freebie. It could be cast ahead of time up to a minute.

Just with regards to spell slots, most if not all of us would require a short rest of 1 hour to recover them correct?
Since there, is a limited amount of spell slots. A long protracted length of combat would deplete them rather quickly.
.
A one hour short rest would restore your warlock spell slots. For other magic users they need a long rest to restore their slots besides in certain cases like wizards. I wouldn't hold back too much in this. We know this is the last enemy to fight here. Besides, this dragon can kill someone quite easily. I'm looking forward to the dragonborn paladin charging into combat soon. It is amusing to think about this huge dragonborn in plate mail and holding a great sword staying out of melee the entire time so far *wink*.
I wondered that before Croft. I understand where everyone gets the benefits now. Sometimes it seems like everyone gets advantage to initiative and attacks. That's one reason this group dishes out a lot more damage than our level says we should.

Paul I looked over it and I should have added half of my proficiency to my ability check due to the bard Jack of All Trades feature. It didn't make a difference this time but I will be more careful with that feature in the future because this is the second time I have not used it when I should have. Good catch.
Gknight I added guidance to my initiative because I had made the assumption that I would have refreshed it before the battle. I had not made it explicit so if that was an overstep I apologize and Daishain please ignore it.
Anronrosby what spell slots a character gets back varies from class to class. Warlocks for example do get everything back with a short rest, while Clerics and Bards need a long rest.
Daishain, how do we handle concentration checks in this game, do you call for them or should we make a die roll whenever we take damage? I'm not sure what works best in play by post.
I was curious so I looked over our attacks so far. Taking any to hit score of 20 and up being a hit we have done 100-110 points of damage. That's in one turn and all of our characters haven't struck yet. That is very impressive.
