Once I also level up to 9th level Warlock, that is. I may need someone to help Tazskan to secure a bargain for a good crystal ball, in the markets.
Velon will have +8 Persuasion after leveling and will be happy to do some negotiating with help or provide the Help action if someone such as one of the bards wants to do the persuasion.
Anron, what is the crystal ball for? Is there a specific magic item you want? I don't know of a crystal ball in 5e but could have missed it or perhaps there are some from other sources.
For Velon I'm probably going Great Weapon Master and am excited to swap a sorcerer spell and have access to 2nd level paladin spells so I can revamp that part of my spell list. +4 proficiency for everyone is also very nice!
I'll be curious about the magic items before making a final decision on leveling, however, just in case one is worthwhile and changes things a bit.
For the silence stone, we can bind it to one of them, and make sure the other is within range. As long as their hands and feet are bound properly, they should have great trouble getting it off. And with the gags as well, that should keep them until we interrogate them. After we are done questioning them, Poljen would just as soon knock them out and toss them from the castle at a great height, or chop their heads off. Unless our patrons themselves want to question the prisoners, of course.
I will be taking the average health increase for my level up on Perry. Also, I'm picking up Resilient: Constitution instead of choosing an Ability Score increase which bumps my CON modifier up to a +3, so I get a decent chunk of health with this level up.
I haven't chosen my spell yet as I'm still debating a couple of things. However, I am going to swap out the spell Enemies Abound as it doesn't fit this group's play style very well.
In answer to Cinder's comment about the crystal ball. Since Tazskan, is allowed to become a full Warlock. Plus level up to 9th level like the rest.
A crystal ball will come in handy for a scrying spell, which is a 5th level Warlock spell. Except in this case, a scrying pool isn't necessary, but a crystal ball is.
Obviously, the scrying spell is used to help locate something or someone on the same plane of existence.
Oh, yes I have been looking through the spell list, for Warlock. If I had a choice, from the "Booty" if allowed, I would take either ring of free action, or cloak of all seeing.
But to be honest, he wants to get hold of a decent crystal ball for scrying. If someone could help him get that. Before, you guys dispose of the cultist bodies, maybe Tazskan, can get hold of lock of hair, or a fingernail or two from them, including Varram.
I'm sorry Cinder, but Tazskan won't get the extra attack, per round feature,(Which he would have got continuing as a paladin). But, will make up for it with a new list of Warlock spells.
Aha, cool on the scrying spell. Nice!
No worries on the extra attack as, again, that is when I thought you were going for more of a paladin gish (Melee) build. You're eldritch blast will keep leveling up with extra bolts so you're getting extra attack that way. Best damage cantrip in the game, after all!
As stated in general for everyone, Velon is happy, or will be once he rests for a while, to assist Taz in haggling for good prices in the markets.
I'd take whichever of those items you want, or both, as it's been a week or two and no one else has claimed them.
Daishain, can we assume Poppo and Lawrance have had time to cast Identify on the mask and other items after a day or two of down time has passed?
*Oh, and I like the idea of stone shaping the silence stone into the floor just under where Varram and the other prisoner sit, ideally without them knowing (Ie before we chain them up there). We'll stone shape a strong metal bolt/loop into the floor at the same time and chain them to it. Daishain, pending other input, I'd say this is what we do since it matches what others have suggested. Which room is a question… obviously not the control room, but perhaps simply the room Taz was locked in when we met him? We'd set guards, of course.
Does the group want to try to get more info out of Varram or see if Irdeith and Chasorth want him?
That's a very good question Cinder, about whether and try and get more information ourselves first.
We should probably try to do so first, and exhaust that avenue. Getting information from Varram and his cultist cohort.
The two dragon beings, Irdeith and Chasorth will most likely only tell us what they want us to know anyhow.
Take the prisoners incarcerate them? Then have us chasing someone else again?
It seems like a bit of sleuth work, involved in investigating, the exact location of these masks. I for one am keen to find out where those two gentlemen got to in a hurry!
No doubt the Zhentarium have some kind of stake in all of this mess?
