If it will make it more likely we get updates from Lawrance each day, Poljen would be willing to remain outside, and carry messages to Velon and company. But Poljen will then return to his post. And if the guards ever get tired of his presence and again remind him how safe the place is, he will reply, "We have many powerful enemies, many of whom use magic. I have little doubt they have people here doing their own research. Once it is known we are here doing our research, our foes might tell their people to attack ours. I will stand ready to assist them. And you."
I do wonder if this castle has its own library that may have contained a tome that was rare enough to gain entrance into the great library. While we searched the castle for magical items and monetary goods and supplies did anyone think of the potential treasure in the way of books and tomes that may have been in the Castle itself?
That being said Cratol will search for any tomes or books that are in the castle itself especially any on religion that he can take to his room and study when he is not otherwise occupied.
I will roll arcana on this thread, but Tazskan doesn't have the raw arcana skill Dai. Will roll a couple of rolls here, unmodified.
I think KN is right none of us bothered to check if there where any other tomes, lying about inside the flying castles library. There could be some there?
So, I guess we are still waiting on Lawrence, to return with some easter egg's?
Seriously, Poljen worries about some member of the Cult of Tiamat is doing research at Candlekeep as well. If that person gets word to take you out, you might need some help. Besides, Poljen did plenty of partying (Ahem) back at Baldur's Gate…
Paul is correct here. There is absolutely no reason why a Tiamat cultist mage wouldn't avail themselves of a vast library for research.
So Lawrence will still need to look over his shoulder, and stay frosty.
Tazskan finds his scrying attempt rebuffed. Most likely by a ward he failed to penetrate.
In his first two days in the library Lawrance discovers little about the nature of the masks. They have popped up several times throughout history however. The greatest of Tiamat's servants often bear them, commanding great respect and power when they do so. A mask bearer often ends up even commanding true dragons, such is their apparent influence.
