Ok everyone, what do we know so far? There's a huge green dragon, that presumably has a poison breath weapon. Terrorizing these villages, killing Elves. There appears to be a rogue Elf, that learnt the arts of a "High" forest mage.
There is a dragon rider, possibly same person. The dragon can become invisible, and expell poison gas, and or fumes?
Personally I would rather not take them head on in the thick forest. I have visions from the movie "Predator," where it can go stealth, invisible, then pick us off one by one!
But like a Romulan "Bird of prey," would need to become visible to unleash its poison breath? One can only hope, then hit it with everything we got?
If only we could lure it out of its den?or out of the forest? It could even be watching us already, invisible? We would need a passive perception, greater than the creatures dexterity to know where it is. Unless it makes tracks, and noise?
At this rate, may have to go back and warn the other's back at the castle, prepare for battle stations, so to speak.
Or, use voice of the "Chain" send the psuedodragon back to warn Cratol, by speaking though it?
Thoughts anyone?

Well that's a relief then, just a stealthier dragon to deal with.
But nevertheless still dangerous, when greeting it on its own turf.
Daishain, would the mage in the village have answered Velon's inquiry about any tactics we could use against this dragon rider that uses their native battle tactics, or at least the description of said tactics that we might face?
Is this "A fair sized search area to the northeast" like a couple of square miles, dozens of square miles, or hundreds or more?
Thanks!
Search area's a roughly ovoid area, about 1.5 x 2.5 miles across.
Mages trained for combat by the high forest elves tend to use similar tactics as their standard troops. Avoid giving the enemy a target in the first place while always hitting at their weak points. You can probably expect a good deal of illusion magic, along with other spells intended to divide and confuse.
Then again, a wall spell large enough to contain an entire village is not exactly a standard spell in her experience.
How many miles away is this marked area? 3? 500? Sigh. We're all just guessing blindly at what to do until we get specifics on such things!
I only want to use the castle so our next post can be "You arrive at the marked area and begin searching for footprints… "if it's a long ways off. I was only looking for clearings the dragon can land in and such things, since that seemed to be its preferred tactic where we are now. After that we go on foot from a few miles away or whatever. (Just a best guess of where our next posts should start from, basically).
Yes, determining where the rough area is, relative to our own, will help in how we deploy. We should have water slides from about 30' up so we can just slide down to land *smile*.
Also, if we want to take the time, we have ways of scouting the area that might help narrow it down.
