Daishain, would you be willing to explain to us what just happened? At least one or two of us have no idea. The key to the 'puzzle' was dispelling the floor? Lawrance mentioned a new pedestal? ("Dispel Magic, this time on the revealed illuminated pedestal") . Did I miss a Dungeon Master post about an illuminated pedestal? If Lawrance isn't just making stuff up, this pedestal was there the whole time but no one could see it? The crack in the floor was there the whole time but no one could see it until people got within melee range? I may have missed something you wrote or an edit along the way or something. [Thanks]
PS Was Velon correct that if we had all jumped on a circle each turn, as long as it wasn't the same circle two people in a row, this thing would never get a turn, or does it only move down the initiative order more slowly than that?

They were cracks in the Stone all over, it was just difficult to see that this one was wider than the others and a little bit of light could be seen through it unless one was almost standing on top. So no there really wasn't an illuminated pedestal, but it was not hard to guess what Lawrence meant.
As to the solution, check out my post at the bottom of the prior page. In this instance, the barrier was being produced by an enchantment in the stone work, and he just managed to beat the DC to dispel it.

Aha, did totally miss that, thanks.

Yes, but you needed to get a little bit more efficient about it. It only dropped by one each time. Each person could then run across the circle twice and have an impact, regular move, and readied action to move again. You would need a couple summons helping out to have him drop 20 initiative each round and still have someone free to act, but it could be done.
